I hate you as a hockey player, I hate your stupid whistles and I hate your shrunken, elf from the Shire reject face, but good on you for turning your life around.

Stay strong, buddy. On the ice, I hope Ericsson pummels you into a sloppy joe tonight, but off the ice I hope you continue to stay clean and continue to make good choices. Like always wear glasses so your eyes don't look like eclipse-watching pinholes.

To Jordin Tootoo, there have been several days of importance and meaning.
His 28 birthdays. The day of his first NHL game. The day of his first NHL goal. The day his brother Terence committed suicide. All affected Tootoo, the NHL’s first Inuit player, in different ways.
All those moments came before Tootoo adopted the motto, “one day at a time.” Those moments mark the man that he was before the two most significant days in his new life, Dec. 18-19, 2010.
“The last time I drank was the 18th,” he said.
Almost one year ago today, Tootoo was in a different spot. He had a problem. He knew it. The Predators knew it. Those who cared for him knew it.
