There’s no way the in-game concussion protocol was followed, or else it is inadequate. There’s no way Tagovailoa was given a post-game medical evaluation.

The Dolphins and NFL are playing with fire. This is how you get someone killed. The Players’ Union is already pointing fingers, but knowing its track record, it’s not about player safety, but positioning for the next CBA.

This situation is pretty damning. And then you have Whitworth on national TV claiming all it takes to get back on the field is lying to the doctors on the sideline to get cleared from concussion protocol.

But yeah, tackle football destroys brains. There's really no way around it.

The brain injury comes from your head suddenly stopping and your brain sloshing into your skull. Padding mitigates the suddenness, but only a little. These guys are massive and fast.

The phase after toadstool helmets will be high-tech collapsible helmets, which will be prohibitively expensive for, say, high schools.

Tua should sit a minimum of a month to try and allow the head trauma to heal.
