Comparing Mariner Starting pitchers to the rest of the league

At a glance those stats align with my thoughts:

1. Our pitching staff is adequate / on par as a whole unit in comparison to the middle tier of MLB clubs.
Could it be better ... yes. Ray is a huge disappointment that sadly I think his numbers do not improve much all season.
Sure he is going to have a few solid starts. I sure as hell hope so that out of 30 starts he throws 4-5 really good games.

2. Mariners simply do not score enough runs. We have a drop off the cliff once we roll to the bottom 1/3rd of our line up.
MONEY is the only quick fix for this. And spending it wisely. Kelenic - nor Haniger nor Lewis will help this club over the hump and into the playoff promise land. Everyone else top 6 spots in the line up likely hold serve. I see a slight drop off in both France and Crawfords numbers at some point. Nothing too serious though. Winkler may wake up and increase his avg by maybe .030 - but that is no certainty. He is not an all star - yea he got the t-shirt, but it was a fluke dream vacation. As for his HR ability ? hahahaha He has warning track power at best. If he hits 12 bombs I
will be very surprised.

3. Servais simply does not know how to hit and run or bunt to advance guys over or safety squeeze bunt in a run from 3rd in a critical situation.
So many games have been lost due to his lack of creating a situation to get a run across the plate in a critical situation.

4. our bullpen is up and down. No consistency at all. But going with the hot hand seems to be working the past week or 2. That is a risky game to play all season long.

Doing #2 and #3 above would help our pitching staff greatly achieve better stat numbers.

Every nite they take the ball they are fed to the wolves knowing any single run they give up is a run the M's offense likely will have a hard time getting back for them.

That creates pressure situations that take a toll on the pitcher over the course of a 5-6 inning outing or a relief appearance knowing they are down a run or 2 late in the game.

Seems like every early lead we do get lately is squandered away within 1-2 innings.

Nick Margevicius 50...he is at tacoma...and working...that alone..is a good thing....on his good days hes..good...so we will see...
he is a proto left handed 5th starter....so..we will see...
if he can get up and do that........just for eye ball..we will put him up in there to see what it looks like
