Nebraska lost a commit today in Jason Hall and then added one in Larenzo Stewart... a 3-star APB from Klein, Texas. According to Scout.com Steward ran a 4.36 electronically timed 40 yard dash and is being recruited as a hybrid RB/Slot guy. not sure what this means with TV (think it means nothing, they wanted a Hybrid guy anyway) but that brings Nebraska back to 11 commits.

I'm going to go to bed but here is is 247 Profile

I will update the commit list sometime tomorrow or Sunday.

But he is 5-6 165lbs which is a little worrisome to me

"Stewart’s fastest 100-meter time this spring was 10.45 seconds, which would be a state record in Nebraska."

Yep. Terrible addition.

DAT says hey.

Runs an electronic 4.36.

Chuck, that basically means he could run circles around ya while you were running your 40 and still beat you.

Interesting addition, definitely a scat back... there have been a few RBs in the BCS era that are this size that have done great things, but more often than not they have washed out. Hopefully he's a Darren Sproles or Quiz Rodgers clone.

I think it comes to how the coaches use em

Darren and quiz did work, DAT split with LMJ and Barnes

I think scat backs like that need 11-15 touches a mixed rb carries and bubble screen/wr touches.

And they need KR and PR

Do that and you still keep em fresh and make defense fear them but not kill him or run him into the ground

Tavon Austin at wva is another example.

After watching his film I am still up in the air on this one. Not sure why, just didn't jump out at me on film. Good speed though.

"Stewart sees his role in Nebraska's offense as a jack-of-all-trades. Last season he was used primarily as a wide receiver but he also toted the rock quite a bit for Klein Oak.

"Their coaches were telling me about how I can have a good impact on the team," he said. "I feel like I can play a lot of different positions for them. I can be involved as a running back, in the slot and used on reverses. Stuff like that. They're just going to get me in space."

Previously, Stewart said he was enjoying his conversations with Brown.

“Coach Brown has been messaging me and letting me know that I’m really wanted up there,” Stewart said. “He’s telling me that he wants to coach me and stuff like that. It makes me feel like I am part of the team already. I’ve been talking with him and coach Els.”

Nebraska has been selling Stewart on the idea of the team's wide open offense.

“They run the type of offense that I really like and they told me I’d be a good fit for the different things they do,” he said. “I can play in the slot or in the backfield, run options. Things like that. That’s the same thing I’m doing now so I wouldn’t have to learn anything different.”

fast but small

He will work harder. I thought Abdullah was small in high school also. But 165 is pretty light. A 320 pounder smashing you is not going to be feeling very good.

The only thing that worries me on him is that he does not seem to be planning on coming to Lincoln for a visit. Hmm, I am going to be there for the next five years of my life, I should at least check it out. Come try a couple of Runzas and have a Valentino's pizza.

With his current offer list not the who's who of Texas, (although Baylor could be an up and coming) he might be hoping for a big season and then be able to get the offer he wants. It just seems he is taking the Nebraska offer because it is the best one he sees right now.

Welcome Larenzo Stewart. But watch out, Nate Gerry from South Dakota will probably beat you in a foot race. You will just have to come to Nebraska to find out though.

Pelini and crew are definitely going for the speed burners. Does Nebraska have any chance at Speedy Noil for 2014?

popping in and out of your guys' recruiting threads, it appears Nebraska is taking the Oregon route in, doesn't matter the size of kids, they just want speed, they are understanding that speed really does kill on the field.

What we need is speed on Defense. I am plenty fine with averaging 30+ points a game on Offense as we currently are.....

Tom Osborne got his rings as soon as he realized he needed speed on Defense.
