Chuck Brown was a Washington D.C. native who loved singing about his hometown. "Wind Me Up!" is probably his most famous song, coming out in 1975 as a single from his album, "We're About The Business!" It was a number-one hit on the R&B/Hip Hop charts and climbed to number five on the Hot One hundred. Little did he know that this album title, the featured song, and its' rise in the charts all have become symbolic of the city and its' football fortunes in 2024. Let's get some details about this game!
When the Washington Commanders face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, November 24, 2024, you can expect an exciting albeit possibly one-sided game! Here are some key things to look out for:
Commanders' Offense
- Jayden Daniels: The rookie quarterback has been impressive this season, however, after two subpar games and questions about his health he'll be looking to continue his strong performance. Expect him to make big plays with both his arm and legs.
- Terry McLaurin: As the Commanders' top receiver, McLaurin will be a primary target for Daniels. Look for him to make crucial catches, with an eye on adding more touchdowns to his growing resume.
- Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler: The running backs will be a key part of the offense, both as ball carriers and as receiving threats out of the backfield.
- Cooper Rush: With Dak Prescott out, Rush will start at quarterback. He'll need to step up and manage the game effectively.
- Rico Dowdle: The running back will be relied upon to carry the load in the absence of Prescott. Look for him to get a lot of carries and try to establish a ground game.
- CeeDee Lamb: The star receiver will be a focal point of the Cowboys' offense. He'll be looking to make big plays and help move the chains.
Commanders' Defense: They've been solid this season and need to continue their strong play to contain the Cowboys' offense. Look for them to try to pressure Rush and force turnovers. This game potentially will mark the debut of recently traded cornerback Marshon Lattimore and the long-hoped-for improvement in the Commanders’ secondary and pass defense.
- Cowboys' Defense: They've struggled this season, especially with injuries. They'll need to step up and try to slow down Daniels and the Commanders' offense. Micah Parson’s recent statement about the Cowboys being a “very good team” might have been made with an eye toward this game and a team that the Cowboys have dominated in recent seasons.
- Turnovers: Both teams have to protect the ball and capitalize on any turnovers. This could be a deciding factor in the game.
- Special Teams: Field position and special teams play will be crucial. Look for both teams to try to gain an advantage in this area. Enjoy the Game, Everyone!
