If it is that easy, then ALL the Big 12 schools have been intentionally recruiting crappy defensive players.

If Les can easily recruit those defensive standouts he'll definitely be ahead of the entire Big 12.

Here's an interesting tidbit I've heard from high school coaches here in Texas. DB recruits are falling into two camps regarding their recruitment. Some will accept scholarship offers from non Big 12 schools and state their reason is they don't want to face teams that have great QBs and WRs and throw it around all the time. Claim that could hurt their future draft status. Others say the opposite. They accept the Big 12 schools offer because they think playing against such will help their NFL chances.
I feel like Daxton Hill is a perfect example of this.

Les is bringing brought in to stabilize the program, start fund raising, spend millions of those dollars on upgrades, and get this team ready to compete in the future.

Much like when ex-Oklahoma Head Coach, Chuck Fairbanks went to Colorado.
Got marginally better, started their process of upgrades, and they were ready when Bill MacArtney came on board.

Here's what happened to Chuck, while he was there.
This never gets old.

This isn't surprising. There is no excuse for Colorado not to be competing for national titles every single year. It has such a storied history of success combined with being such a hotbed of high school talent. And you cannot name a more desired destination city for young athletes than Denver, Colorado. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say.

Les Miles should have held out.
While I think Colorado would have more potential, is there really much difference between the football programs of CU, Kansas or Rutgers? They are all abysmal.

CU has averaged 2 conference wins in the 8 seasons since abandoning the B12. They've been to 1 bowl game in the past 10 years and haven't won a bowl since '04.

CU never gets their in-state talent and is really just pathetic. It will be interesting to see who they can lure to the school.

I get your sarcasm, but in reality there's no reason the school shouldn't be competitive. Maybe it's karma for having such a shitty fan base.

They should be better. Goes back a long time with a string of shitty hires. Coming back from poor talent is hard. Need a lot of good coaching and even more luck

Colorado is always going to have an issue since they came to the Pac 12 in recruiting. They can’t recruit California well and can’t really recruit Texas now. Utah can get away with being in the Pac 12 because their LDS connection with the Pacific Islanders.

They should be able to sell this to kids:

If that were the only thing needed to sell it to kids, then San Diego State and Hawaii would get a lot of the best recruits.
I'm not saying they should be Alabama or Clemson, but they shouldn't be Kansas or Rutgers either.

I can buy that. If geography is the deciding factor, they can possibly steal some recruits from places like Texas Tech, Missouri, K-State, Minnesota, etc.

Not quite sure how Minnesota has a roster full of Georgia kids. They certainly don't take visits in the winter.
