That 10th in West thing is a little tongue-in-cheek as 5th place also has 24 points BUT I went with the nhl.com standings all the same.

Pretty entertaining 1st period

But Why does Babcock continue to punish Datsyuk by putting him with the 2 most useless wingers in the nhl?

It's quite obvious why these guys aren"t scoring goals of late. Many great scoring opportunities are going by the wayside one after the other. How many times tonight has a pass through the middle just outside the crease zipped it's way to the side wall and back out to the blue line with none one within 5 meters of where they should be? And, why is Babcock putting much less skilled players with those guys who are at the top of the skill list. You've got Abdelkader, who could finish a play down low into the net, if he had rocket fuel on his stick, on the same line with Pavel, not only in this game, but in the Chicago contest, where Big E's intelligence level reached an all time low, after playing one of his best games ever before that. Abbie with Pavel? That's like asking Helen Keller to help an eagle see. Come on, Mike, get with the program. I realize that some of these guys get a touch of being brain dead far too often, but at least put the players together that have some skil on your first and second lines or else the drought is going to continue.

Shit, it's a miracle!!!!! Mike woke up between periods and put Brunner, Franzen, and Zetterberg together for a change. Way to go, Mike, apparently, that nap is history.

This PP tonight is total shit. They fail to move the puck quickly is the offensive zone, holding it like they'll get a pay raise the more they hold it. When is this team going to hire somebody that knows wtf they're doing, when it comes to teaching they guys how to create scoring opportunities consistently when on the PP?

At least you can have the mindset that there's some humor in it with the lol, but I'm so pissed off with this guy that I could ring his neck. Why has it taken this man over 4+ years to get the unproductive PP fixed. And, in so many of these games we witness now, he's got guys running around like they have no idea what the hell they're supposed to do; and, sometimes, actually don't have a clue, period. What I want to know is what enhancements are being implemented by him? I'm having my doubts. I've watched these kids when with GR, and that development is in a class by itself, compared to what I see is happening in Mike's so-called "school of development".

From what I saw, Howard is the player of the game by far.

IMO, Howard was the obvious choice for Player of the Game on Sunday, too, but, apparently, those who voted to put Crawford into the limo seat, just might be the same guys who would vote for those guys in MLB, who happened to be juicing up to set records, into the Hall of Fame. Aren't there other criteria besides the scoresheet that determine who might be a better candidate? With some, apparently not.

It appears that by watching the recent LA, Chicago, and this game against the Avs tonight, that we are getting beat to the puck more than not, but, certainly, entirely too much. That will be a huge issue through the rest of this season, and during the playoffs, (if we make it in), particularly if Helm isn't ready to resume any time soon. And, as I see it, if we don't start matching other teams in the 'speed department' through both drafts and acquisitions, we will continue to struggle, as we are this season. When, Pavel's contract is up, he will likely return to Russia, as he has spoken about in public. But, who can blame him one bit, when your regular sidekicks are the likes of Abdelkader and Cleary. Not intending to downplay either of these players here; but, what I don't seem to understand is whether or not the plan that Babcock has in mind is to have a guy with Pavel's superior abilities help to develop these two guys, or, is there much more productivity, from a team standpoint, to utilize his talents more effectively, by skating him on a more regular basis with the likes of Franzen and Brunner, as he did in the second period to open the scoring. We've seen what the results of the latter has shown, but, the question is, how often is Mike going to remember that versus the other choice?
