All true, currently ND wins the eye test, but you can't go against the H2H.I personally think ND is better and would win in a rematch, but as long as they have the same record Miami should be ahead.
Team offense is betteraren't you a tad better at QB which is really important?
Our stud RB Haynes is out for the yearWe will also need to hope we are just being cautious with our injuries as we have some guys out who are kind of good.
we definitely should win but I'd be willing to bet a lot we wont be favored by nearly as much as last season (20+ if memory serves?).Team offense is better

You guys should win..
Because SMU and Louisville are deemed bad losses. The ACC should really only be a one bid conference anyway. Why is Miami behind ND again?
Not sure how many bids ACC should get (don't necessarily disagree only 1 seems right) but it's funny how fans will go back and forth on what matters - big wins or bad losses - depending on their argument. Not saying that's what you are doing here as I agree with you.Because SMU and Louisville are deemed bad losses. The ACC should really only be a one bid conference anyway.
Part of that is because the committee over the entire time of the playoffs has gone back and forth every year. Not sure how many bids ACC should get (don't necessarily disagree only 1 seems right) but it's funny how fans will go back and forth on what matters - big wins or bad losses - depending on their argument. I thought the committee representative on tv Tuesday night explained it best. Currently Miami and Notre Dame are viewed by the committee in different tiers. If Miami does enough to get in the same tier with ND they left open the possibility Miami could leap frog ND because of that head to head. Not sure how many bids ACC should get (don't necessarily disagree only 1 seems right) but it's funny how fans will go back and forth on what matters - big wins or bad losses - depending on their argument. It seems the committee values CCG wins and just overall record quite a bit.Part of that is because the committee over the entire time of the playoffs has gone back and forth every year.
They need set qualifications that everyone knows about, and honestly, should also release a pre-season ranking and do this more than just the last third of the season.
Losing early compared to late seems to be no different than when all we had was AP/coaches polling. ND might very well be a top 5 team but what I see is a team who since losing those 2 games has played 1 team with a pulse and their tough games were early (and they lost).I thought the committee representative on tv Tuesday night explained it best. You talked about who you beat vs who you lost to but a dynamic you haven’t mentioned is the timing of losses. Early losses seem to be more easily forgiven than later losses. Notre Dame hasn’t lost since September 13th. I would imagine when the committee looks at ND they see two factors in those early losses - a freshmen ND QB making start 1 and 2 of his career and improving since that time coupled with games 1 and 2 of a new defensive coordinator replacing 6-7 starters on that side of the ball which has also been much improved in that time.
I think the best argument for ND is this - have you watched them? If you’ve watched them you’ve seen a team on a steady arc of improvement who is currently playing like a top 5 team in the country. They definitely belong in a 12 team playoff if they finish 10-2
because today nd would beat miami by at least 10. and the voters agree. Why is Miami behind ND again?
That’s one more team with a pulse than Oregon has played all season until tomorrow.Losing early compared to late seems to be no different than when all we had was AP/coaches polling. Agree no more losses they should be in the CFP.
k....but I'd say 2. Indiana and Iowa. That’s one more team with a pulse than Oregon has played all season until tomorrow.
My fault. I should have said beaten. Indiana is legit. Iowa is still Iowak....but I'd say 2. Indiana and Iowa.
I'd say Iowa legit....very least might bore the opponent to death. My fault. I should have said beaten. Indiana is legit. Iowa is still Iowa
Miami's same record is true as long as you count the win against Bethune-Cookman as important. In my opinion playing FCS teams is a coward's way out to avoid a potential loss.I personally think ND is better and would win in a rematch, but as long as they have the same record Miami should be ahead.
The game was played though and ND didn'tbecause today nd would beat miami by at least 10. and the voters agree.
At some point, I think we’re going to see the conferences do away with conference championship games, and instead rely on the old BigXII way that they had to do when they didn’t have a “full” conference. It seems the committee values CCG wins and just overall record quite a bit.
Preseason ranking? What would that be based on for them with no data points?
That is true, but Florida State was left out because of the injured QB. The decision was based (unfairly to be sure) on what were the best teams at that moment in time. If Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss today, the same logic would knock them out.The game was played though and ND didn't
