The reality is fans don't convert after a loss, so...I mean..it's just for fun and you're upset because you don't think the badgers get properly represented
Well that’s not a problem either. The Polish didn’t “convert” in 1939 either, but they still got conquered.

I know it’s not. All it shows is which school is geographically closest. But that doesn’t mean anything.
It's their map using their guidelines. If it has you this disgruntled, make you own map based on your guidelines.

I feel like OU is going to be un-naturally good at this game.

So my take out of all this is that Kansas is going to be without any land until basketball season.

Well if Rutgers can get by Ohio State, as they should, there will be a big chunk of land to be had.

I italicized the “as they should” to show obvious sarcasm.
So that's what that italic shit means!

Don't be pullin' that crap on a technomologically challenged old man! (and other challenged areas)

So a little less about analysis (statistical or otherwise):

It doesn’t just need to be “objective”, it needs to reflect reality.

I could make a prediction about the next election and say that my analysis assumes that all people with blue eyes will vote Republican. It’s objective - I’m not cherry-picking voters - but it’s BS, because that’s not what determines how people vote.

People aren’t fans of a certain team because the middle point of their county is closest by straight line distance to that team’s campus. It’s “objective”, but it has no basis in reality. So the resulting map doesn’t really show anything meaningful.

They would be better off basing it on jersey sales, which team’s games the local TV affiliate shows, or just plain common sense. If they got the starting map right, then it’s an interesting idea, but they don’t.

It’s the worst kind of analysis, one that is lazy and oversimplified, and illustrates the most famous maxim in statistical analysis - GIGO (“garbage in, garbage out”).

They should start with the question - “which is the most popular college football team in each county?”. It would take some work to figure out, perhaps some polling, etc. But then you have something interesting and meaningful.

Above you demonstrate that you think he is trying to predict where fans reside to establish the territory. And you think you have a superior method.

I know it’s not. All it shows is which school is geographically closest. But that doesn’t mean anything.
But then I read this, and see you do understand what he did. And that he is NOT trying to predict where fans reside.

So what in the hell are you arguing about?

They obviously drove down from RDU

Seriously, I wish Carolina (good) would play in that Belk game every year. I know Spurrier (RIP) wanted to have UNC/USC play in Charlotte every year, like the Georgia/Florida game. I always thought that was a great idea. I would be fine with it being against NC State, there have been some great matchups between those teams over the years

Just like how South Carolina fans drove up from Columbia, Charleston, etc.

If most of the residents in Charlotte are Gamecock fans, then that would have been a virtual home game for South Carolina. There were a shit ton of empty seats that day.
