Would you take him over Luck, RGIII or Wilson? Been having a conversation with the 9'ers board.

Take him over them? No, but he's right there with them. Over Dalton? Hell yes, and we had a chance to draft him. Ranks right up there with Paul Brown's hiring of Tiger Johnson to replace him when he retired, when everyone just assumed Bill Walsh was his heir apparent.

I think he's great, but I'm not sure I'd take him over any of those three. Maybe RGIII because I have my concerns about his long-term durability.

One thing I think Kaepernick has in his favor is that he is in year 2 of Harbaugh's offense. Harbaugh worked wonders with Smith and he and Roman seem to be developing Kaepernick very nicely. The rest of those guys were all rookies and haven't even had a full offseason yet.

But to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see all four of them in the top 10 quarterbacks in the league for the next decade (if they stay healthy).

I'd rank them as such....

Wilson
Kap
Cam
RG3

They're all very good, though. We're stuck with Dalton. LOL....there's just no comparison. It's sad.

you have to keep in mind that SF is a much better team. Vanilla Alex Smith was actually sorta successful in SF. Andrew Luck lifted a team that only won a few games last year.

I think Luck is the best of the bunch.RG III I think is going to be like Vick often injured, Wilson and Kaepernick at this point I would say are pretty even but I would go with Kaepernick but because both are more than willing to run it's just a matter of time before 1 or both go down to injury

the QBs that stay in the pocket generally play more games and more seasons than those who run

I'm a big fan of Kaepernick. I thought he made a tremendous throw in the redzone to Crabtree I believe on the play before Crabtree fumbled at the 1 yard line. It was a short throw, but nailed it right in stride right when Crabtree turned his head. It was a thing of beauty. And there have been a lot of tight window and back shoulder throws that Kaepernick has nailed the last 2 games. He's going to be a good one.

But as grad said, when I'm going to compare him to other QB's, Harbaugh and that offense must be taken into account. For one, they made Smith look like a very good QB. Secondly, Vernon Davis would make a lot of players look good. Davis was getting wide open on a lot of plays last week. Wilson has a very good defense and run game to complement him, but I don't think his receivers or the system are as good. So, I could see an argument that Wilson and Kaepernick are very close. But Luck and RGIII are ahead of the pack, in that order.

I'd take Luck, then Kaepernick. He's known for his legs, which he can use, but watch him throw one of those laser beams down the middle of the field. The dude has a cannon too. His size gives him an advantage over RGIII. He's more careful as well.

I'd rank them as follows:

1) Luck
2) Kaepernick
3) Wilson
4) RGIII
5) Newton

All are miles ahead of Dalton, and are probably the next generation of top quarterbacks for the next forseeable future.

100% TOTALLY agree! We drafted the next Jon Kitna...It is what it is...We will compete but we wont win the big 1...... 4 of the top 5 have the skills to do it...and Cam in the right situation with good coaching could do it too....

Imagine that last throw to AG if it was Pumpernickel, Cam or Wilson...shit would have touchdown! We miss out too damn much than when special special players are on the board we go a different route or just miss them...Green fell in our lap...lol

Newton is hard to evaluate, he can run up some fantasy points if he's in the right mood. But, he plays for Carolina, which is a giant clusterfuck of screwiness.

I think people underrate Wilson because of his size..... That kid was AMAZING down the stretch. And he seems to have the pocket-presence and build that will keep him from getting injured easily. I'd probably put him right after Luck.

I think people underrate him because of how much talent he's surrounded with. They/We want to see more. There's no question RGIII and Luck had much, much less to work with.

I put this question out on Twitter, and Luck was the overwhelming winner, although all of them got at least a couple of votes.
