Honestly unless you're into bourbon there isn't much reason to drink American booze anyway.

There are some amazing wine producers from the PACNW and California (less my style in general) but there is nothing you basically can't get from Europe or even the Okanagan.

There are definitely some excellent American beers but local beers in most parts of Canada are now incredible.

I really enjoy the bourbon and the only Vodka I would drink from there is Titos as they donate to Dog Rescue.

but that was pretty much it

For the past decade or so almost all the beer I buy is local or regional. Fresher and usually more interesting styles and flavors.

Dash's adventurous taste in beers while traveling a broad.

Yes I noticed the space in abroad, just kind of thought it improved the post.

Only negative about this, and it can be annoying, is that I have lost a few favorites because of breweries - brewpubs going out of business.

Did the draft beer - growler phase hit liquor stores across the country or was that just local? About 5-6 years ago all the liquor store in my area got growler stations. All of them. A year later maybe less, they were all gone.

Even on the cruises I have been taking, all booze included, I will pick something other than a US wine every time.

At the grocery store, US fruit and veggies are there... I pick something different

friend of mine pretty much provided every craft brewer their first start here in Vancouver. He has a Medium Brewer for his local beer that distributes across BC its a healthy size.

he tried to expand into Colorado and took over a brewery there and put his beer in, but cost, red tape and lack of interest ended that pretty quick shortly after covid. He shut it down when he saw that the craft brew was not on the same interest level there as it is here for him

Weird, for some reason I would have thought that would be a good market (maybe being early on recreational marijuana had an effect?) . I don't know that area but its big here still - not that it's easy to become profitable. Two small-midsize breweries near me had the idea of sharing a brewing space and bar while remaining separate companies - so far that's worked out.

Covid killed a ton of places in my area, but lots more have popped up. Some seem to do very well.

I mean its all relative, as crowded as the popular brewpubs are - I go to a liquor store with a great selection and even there half the people walk out with Mich Ultra or something similar.

I am sure there were other underlying factors but like you said they go in with the selection they have available and they walk out with that... some just dont want to explore.

Old intel :D
funny thing is I was in St Louis and went to a bar and asked the bartender what local beers they had, he said bud... I said no local.. he said bud... I said local .... bud.... he asked me what city I thought I was in... it never clued into me that I was in the home of Budweiser even tho I was going to do a tour of the brewery... when I toured it they had a tasting at the end and I am not lying when I said it was one of the crispest beers I ever had. I ask them why he said in our plant we can make it like a craft beer for all over the world we have to prep it for the bottle shock it will get so it does change its taste. I still have not had a bud since then and this was 13 years ago lol ...

I haven't.
Like Bodie asked, "Why would anybody ever want to leave Baltimore?".

I don't know the percentage, I'm sure you're right, but I would guess a good portion have not due to economic reasons. Big difference between that and people having the means but just not wanting to travel.

@sbb122 and @dare2be can also tell you. In Pittsburgh it is crazy. There are people who grew up and never left the South hills and never been East or North of the city and vice versa.

Did that when I went on a road trip to see the Canucks in Phoenix.
They had a yardhouse pub by the arena. Went there for lunch one day and stayed through a late dinner.

Another day of that trip, we were shocked how cheap the beer was at Walmart, I think. So we got a 2-4 and just brought it down to crush by the hotel pool
