Cinc De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo is not generally a Mexican holiday except maybe in Mexico City and American residing Mexicans.
When I moved to California at 10, I fell in love with Mexican food so it is a fun holiday for me.
I'm making Tacos De Lengua today - ready in another 3 hours.
So many things I could have made but these are one of my faves.
Legua = tongue. I first had tongue with an Italian family in Boston.
It is eaten by every nationality except white-bread Americans.

Got any plans for today other than watching the Celtics?

I'm in the greater L.A. area so it's kinda big around here. I was planning on some lovely margaritas tonight after my kids baseball practice at our favorite local Mexican please(and catch some of the Celtics). They make em strong as fuck. I totally forgot that today was May 5th so there's no way I'm going near that place.

My wife is gonna make tacos at home.

She probably watched her mom cook and peel it!
That will keep a lot of folks away from trying it.
Beef tongue is just another muscle - with a weird and gross shape. It is used a lot so it is lean and tough. Once prepared it makes fabulous tacos. If you see it before you try it anybody that is the least squeamish will not like it. It's not white bread or hotdogs so most Americans won't touch it.

Mexicans eat anything.

I once got into an argument (here on SportsHoopla) about eating chicken tacos.
He said "everybody knows, Mexicans don't eat chicken"
I had just had a company party with my Mexican help the day before.
The menu? Grilled chicken tacos.
