Dude, its college, they don't get paid to put their bodies on the line like they do in the NFL. I would completely agree if they were paid and considered employees as they are in the NFL, but they are not. So its not the same. NFL owners know and understand this. I promise you, no one will look at any of the se players in any different view due to this. In fact, several NFL players even opted out, I don't see them getting benched or displaced from work because of it, why... because it would be illegal.

Without college football how does the NFL know about these guys, high school ball? College football gives these guys a stage to perform on, a place to showcase their skills for future NFL employment.

So just how would a college pay players, these teams have 80 and more athletes out there so only starters get paid? if injured they don't? QB's make more? this would never work. Players.....why is he making more than me? It just wouldn't work.

You can do whatever you want as a MMER, tennis player, golfer, boxer, but when you play a team sport you have too many others relying on you, you can;t just walk away. You have an obligation to the school, the coachs and your teammates. And college football is a real big $$$$$$ deal.

That answers your question about paying college kids. Not on a pay scale but evenly split.

So those who sit the bench make just as much s the stars of the team? There are 85 players on some of these teams, ouch! How does Illinois State, Troy, Sacramento State pay anyone anything? And if a school can;t pay you why go there, find one that can.

Star or not it's an even pay line. They're college kids, not pros. Schools make a shit load off of tuition, out of state tuition, books, rent for dorms etc etc. They may not generate the same as P5 schools, but they aren't hurting for money.

You honestly believe Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Elon, Coe, Humbolt, Chico State, Northern Arizona, New Mexico Highlands, Colgate, Furman, Western Alabama, could afford to pay 85 football players, really? And if they can't what athlete wil be going there, they will go to where they can make some $$$$.

Why does Savannah State, Bethune Cookman, North Carolina Central don't care if LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama beat them 76-10, 80-7, 66-3, yep..$$$$$. The small schools need $$$$$, they can;t be paying anyone.

Reality

Based on this approach—again using the 2011 revenues and expenses in the USAToday.com database—only 79 of the 126 FBS programs could actually pay its players by virtue of posting a revenue number that exceeds expenses.

Though this number includes the bulk of BCS schools, notable exceptions are Florida State (which operated at an $8 million deficit in 2011), Arizona State (it was more than $1 million in the red in 2011), West Virginia (also over a cool million in the hole in 2011), Georgia Tech (posted a $700,000 deficit) and Missouri ($13,000 in the red).

Programs reporting zero revenue in 2011 include Rutgers, UCLA and Minnesota.

Using our formula, these schools and 39 others don’t have the cash to pay players a single dime, even if they were allowed to.

P5 schools obvious can pay more but smaller schools can put in 500-1000. So 40000 to 80000 comitted to the football players.

No, most schools couldn't afford to pay players, and every stat proves that.

You opened with "Can;t (sic) think of an NFL running back who is a Canadien(sic) citizen, well here he is" . I thought maybe you couldn't think of one either :noidea:
Tim Biakabatuka.

Remember Christian 'Nigerian Nightmare' Okoye, he played at Azusa Pacific here in Cali....

Azusa Pacific University, a private college near Los Angeles, has folded its football team, Gary Pine, director of athletics, announced Wednesday. The university was the only California-based NCAA Division II institution with a football program, a press release from the athletic department said.

“While that status created a unique recruiting proposition for the university, it eventually became an expensive one as well,” the release said.

The university cited a shrinking number of colleges in California that offer football as the primary reason why it eliminated the sport, the release said. Occidental College, which is in Los Angeles and had a NCAA Division III football program, eliminated its team in October.

You start paying players we see more and more of that sort of thing above, Do we really want that?

Nobody has to play football, if they decide to put themselves at risk it;s on them. Don't play if all concerned on over putting your body on the line.

You can't have college football where some schools pay and some don't. Really just that simple.

San Jose State was once one of the greatest track programs in the world, in 1968 they had 4 Olympic sprinters, the school had to drop the track program years ago yep.....$$$$$$. Oregon State had......and on and on.

You have any idea how many colleges play football in California, maybe USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal could pay players, noway San Diego State, Fresno State, San Jose State, Bakersfield State, UC Irvine, Sacramento State, LA State, UC Northridge, UC Santa Barbara and on and on could do it. Cal Poly Pomona paying football players, no way in hell.

Yep, it was "citizen" rather than "native born" so he would count I think. I'd kinda forgotten about him. His nephew actually plays in the QMJHL but I don't think he's a prospect.

Marcus Allen game wasn;t speed, he could be the slowest GREAT running back ever.
Agree , Hubbard has that same linear running style as Allen did between the tackles and seems to always be falling forward when he goes down plus he looks faster than Allen in the open field.

Allen was a HS QB at Lincoln in San Diego, just sayin'

Allen was a sliter=er, he just had a way of avoiding wanna be tacklers, very unique. That is until he got near the goal line, here he was deadly,

Like I said, never say never but highly doubtful. That's it, nothing else to discuss. Move on now.
