News reports are coming out of trouble in Eagleland that may turn into Chip Kelly leaving:

- "With firing of Tom Gamble, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman wins power struggle with Chip Kelly"

Easier for your replacement to keep the car moving when they have a Mariota driving it. Kelly still built that up into what it is.

You can't fault Kelly for the Eagles not making the post season. They were close with captain butt fumble at the helm ffs. Losing your starting QB kills most teams seasons that go through it. Kelly is doing great things up there.

I don't care enough to look up and analyze the stats, but could the Eagles late season struggles be due to a defense that is worn out from being on the field so much this year?
I realize time of possession is not a telling stat in a game but I do believe it has a cumulative effect.

Also something I have been thinking about. Not only does it wear down your defense in the beginning of the game but they also get gassed towards the end of the season. We saw as the season went on they struggled more and more to lock out anyone defensively. It is a factor for sure.

When it clicks, they boat race other teams. Unfortunately I don't think Chip has the players yet. The defense gets worn out if the offense struggles with 3 and outs cause they only get a minutes rest.

Regardless, finishing 10-6 (I think?) when your starting QB goes down is impressive. Eagles are not built like Seattle where you can just hand it off to Lynch/Turbin and play good D. Even then, Seattle's backup (Jackson) is a top 3 league backup QB.

Well contrary to some other idiot Eagle fans that think he's gonna trade up for Mariota,

He now can get CB's, ILB's, and depth on both lines .....

Eagles are not built like Seattle where you can just hand it off to Lynch/Turbin and play good D.

The question is will they ever be able to build a great D? The uptempo just puts your defense on the field too often to really be good. They've been 32nd in the league in TOP the past two years. I dont believe that style can get you through the playoffs.
