Rusty Mansell did an interview this morning with 680 and he said that we matched Tennessee's first offer, but then Tennessee upped their offer and we let him go.

Chaney didn't do a bad job, but at the same time, I haven't found anyone that's upset he's leaving. I think we were all more worried about Sam Pittman following him, but Coach Pittman is staying put, hopefully with a nice raise.

Coley is gonna be the next man up. I wouldn't be shocked if Dell McGee got the nod, but my money is on Coley, and regardless I think McGee gets a new title with more cash.

Tennessee made Chaney the country's highest paid OC.

Yeah. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't that damn good. Gotta walk away at that point, and Chaney has to take that money.

He doesn't deserve to be the highest paid OC in the country. If Tennessee is willing to sign that check, he'd be a fool not to take it, but we'd also be fools to try and match the offer.

He wasn't a bad OC, but he wasn't exactly innovative either, and wasn't a great recruiter(Sam Pittman and Dell McGee are the rocker stars on the offensive staff when it comes to recruiting)

I'm hearing that Kentucky's OC might get the job. I'd give him a chance, but that would annoy me. Kentucky wasn't exactly a potent offense this year, and hiring an outsider might rub someone that's already there the wrong way.

Sam Pittman has been named as Associate Head Coach to go with remaining the offensive line coach, and is now the highest paid o-line coach in NCAAF history.

He's making nearly as much as Tennessee is paying Chaney.

This tells me we could have kept Chaney if Kirby really wanted to, but Pittman was more important to lock up.
