Oh good. It’s this thread again with another OP who doesn’t seem to understand how Title IX works.

Yeah, they don’t seem to get it that you will have to pay athletes in the budget-draining sports as well as FB.

Interns aren’t principals. Vince Young wasn’t holding clipboards and getting coffee for the staff meeting.

The players are the principals in this multi billion dollar industry. Try again
You have no idea how the world works. Thanks for making that clear.

This is the dumbest comparison I've ever heard. To be an actual engineer, you have to have a college degree. I've never heard of a college athlete who has gone to school long enough to have a degree who isn't eligible to go pro and get paid. And guess what? If they have a degree and somehow can't go pro, they're free to go off and do anything else they want and get paid. You know, like any other person alive. Except the difference is they have 0 debt, compared to millions of other grads who have to deal with it.

Don't be a dipshit.
You mean it isn't more comparable to people already having high level degrees than say an apprenticeship in a trade?

He's totally clueless. Made that crystal clear.

Cfb isn’t an apprenticeship in a trade. It itself is a multi billion dollar industry with 100 million dollar stadiums, multi million dollar yearly coaching salaries, multi multi million dollar broadcasting contracts. Everyone involved is spending and making multi multi millions in the multi billion dollar industry.
The only people not being able to negotiate for compensation are the actual principals.

You people will argue the status quo no matter how CLEARLY the situation is presented you.

I agree with maybe a small stipend as long as it doesn't affect other programs. but as long as meals, room, board, books, fees are paid for then you really cant complain.

Unless you have a way to pay football players that will ensure all universities are not losing money, all players are paid fairly, and it all is within Title IX compliance, shut the absolute fuck up.

They already do have a stipend. Some of them are just greedy for more.

To be an engineer you have to have a degree.
To be a div1 football player, you have to have great football skills.

So?

Your argument is what’s called SPECIOUS.

The actual non-specious and actually substantive point is that the principals in a multi billion dollar industry are being dictated to by a monopoly that they cannot negotiate for their compensation... and y’all are supporting this laughably unamerican, unfair, immoral situation.

Many undervalue the scholarships. At flagship schools like Texas and Florida, full rides are EXTREMELY competitive, and they are still pretty competitive at ANY flagship school.

So only small industries use apprenticeships? Are you new? :L

Correct. You are a division 1 college football player. You are not a professional. The fact that you continue to blow off the tremendous value of what these players are given shows how truly ignorant you are.

Too many just DO NOT GET the can of worms that would be opened if this came to pass. It very well could be the death of college athletics.

Given the overwhelming number of D1 athletes who do not go pro in their sport, the value of a 100% free education is unbelievable value, especially considering the price of a college education in this day and age.

No. Please try reading again, dunce
Whether the industry small or large, principals aren’t apprentices.

Take Ohio State. Free tuition plus room and board PLUS all of the networking and internship opportunities in Columbus. I would give that a net present value in the millions.

Yes, at least, to cfb.
And that is secondary in importance to economic rights and freedom.
Monopolies dictating to principals their compensation is laughable in a multi billion dollar industry.

Only if one chooses to ignore trade offs.

If you think college athletes are “hurt” by the current system, how will they be affected if said opportunities GO AWAY. How does that benefit their “rights and opportunities”?

College athletics EXPANDS opportunities. Taking those away will have far more economic costs than benefits.

There are 11k scholarship athletes in FBS. And all of them benefit from the system. The very top athletes get exposure and TRAINING toward an NFL career.

The next level still got to select among the top degree institutions in the country along with a deep network of contacts that average students from the same school don't have. That's priceless.

Go all the way down to the 3* kids no one knows and they still got compensated with tens of thousands in yearly compensation, a degree, no student debt, and all of those contacts that come with it. They have a serious edge over average students.

They are paid well.

Most of those kids coming in wouldn't qualify on academics alone. Stop turning football players into mensa members dolt.

You couldn't be more exposed as clueless on this topic but do keep digging a deeper hole for yourself. It's amusing.
