I hope we see more of Reiter at center maybe even develop Long at that spot because Ribeye just ain't cutting it

I think Spencer Long has been taking snaps at center in camp. they aren't going to carry a 2nd team center on the 53

well to be fair one game at center shouldnt be the the end all be all . right now callahan doesnt have confidence in reiter so perhaps he is PS material

you could be right however there are 3 games left and that was his 1st game as a center so perhaps he will get a learning curve , perhaps not . wouldnt surprise me either way

Why do the fans continue to dog Lich? He grades out well and was always considered the 2nd best lineman behind Trent. But I agree, backup center is a real issue here. Ribeye should have been cut 2 years ago after being drafted 2 rounds too early. Let's hope the young guys can develop and Lich stays healthy.

Looks like you inadvertently answered your own question with your reference to Ribeye. To be clear......."always considered the 2nd best lineman behind Trent" is not a ringing endorsement but rather an indictment of the lack of talent here. SM has vowed to build this team by getting bigger and stronger up front. Like everyone else Litch is going to have to earn his spot, the difference now is it won't be because there's no competition for it.

I'm not really dogging litch, he's average, gets pushed back some but he's small so what do u expect. I'm dogging his back ups, he doesn't have an NFL worthy back up yet.

stieger is the next guy on the o/line that needs to be replaced . he gets manhandled by big NT's . but you can only do so much in one off season so you have to live with him for another year or 2 depending on what needs crop up .

as for competition everyone is on reiter's jock except callahan . that should tell you all something . he isnt ready yet

exactly. Reiter is PS, development. he's not ready to contribute this year. You cant take care of all "holes" in one year on the job. looks like they are going to keep 9 lineman and dress 7-8 on gameday

I'm just going by what I've heard and the coaches all like Lich, IMO Lavaoro is the next guy to be replaced. I could never understand the signing in the first place. I heard a bunch of Cleveland fans saying he was one of their worst lineman.

If the FO would quit farting around with draft picks, (drafting players we really don't need, STers), and draft a quality center in the 2nd or 3rd then we wouldn't have this problem.The top center can usually be had in the 2nd round. You could find someone that could start early in the 3rd-4th.

We were all laughing at the 'boys a few years ago for drafting Frederick in the late first, but who is laughing now? He is one of (if not the) the top centers in the league. Already has a Pro Bowl. Wish we had a few linemen like that.

takes time. they wanted the best lineman in the draft at 5 and then they needed a pass rusher at 36. They will probably go O-line heavy next year.

I agree.

Going into the 2016 draft, the biggest needs are QB, Center, FS and I would add CB and WR. We can finally start addressing ALL needs given SM good 2015 offseason.
