Carl Pelini apologizes for camera incident
Posted by: Brian Christopherson on November 23, 2010 at 1:31PM CST
Husker defensive coordinator Carl Pelini issued a statement of apology on Tuesday for a postgame incident with a TexAgs.com cameraman.
Brandon Jones, owner of TexasAgs.com, said Pelini charged at him and his camera after the game. Video footage and still photos of it were posted on his website. There was no audio to know what might have been said on the field.

“I apologize for the events that occurred after Saturday night’s game at Texas A&M," Carl Pelini said in a statement. "It was a very emotional situation and the mob scene on the field after the game amplified that. Having been involved in a similar situation in 2003 at Missouri, and in witnessing the situation on the field, I made a poor decision in trying to prevent a reporter from recording the scene. I have acknowledged this from the very beginning. Unfortunately, in trying to prevent a scene, I created one. We have been in contact with Brandon Jones and I have apologized to him directly for putting my hands on his camera. I offered to pay for any damages to the camera, but Brandon indicated there were none."

Bo Pelini was asked about it at yesterday's press conference. Bo said it was a crazy atmosphere and Carl went through the camera in an effort to pull a player away from the commotion. Photos showed no Husker player close to the scene.
“Unfortunately, Bo did not have all the facts prior to yesterday’s press conference and wasn’t fully prepared for the question," Carl said. "Hopefully, this statement will erase all doubts about the situation and allow everyone to put it behind us. Again, I apologize for any negative publicity this has caused for our football program, Athletic Department and the University of Nebraska.”

I still don't believe that Carl just saw the camera guy and thought "fuck that, I'm gonna ruin this kid's fun."

I will bet the kid said something to him.......the camera was afterall aimed right at Carl when it happened...........still though, that is ridiculous on Carl's part. Carl's actions were a million times worse than Bo's

Bo and Carl have the reins to one of the greatest college football programs of all time. They've earned the opportunity of a lifetime (not many men get) to put their names in the history books of CFB in a prideful way.

Stop with the sideline antics. There are other ways of dealing with things that don't go your way. Temper tantrums are not professional and do not lead to success in business nor family life period!!

Set an example of confidence and maturity in these young players for their future. Vein popping screaming accomplishes nothing.

I served 8 years in the military. The most difficult behind the Iron Curtain where demeanor was of utmost importance. I never once saw a superior NCO or commanding officer yell at anybody.

I spent 1 year on a remote Early Warning Radar base in Iceland. Again I never saw a superior NCO or commanding officer yell at anybody.

I finished my military career as a high altitude long range radar instructor @ Keesler AFB, Biloxi Ms. I taught US active duty, guard, reserve, civilian, and forign nationals as students. Never once did I, or did I see any superior NCO or commanding officer yell at anybody.

There were other avenues of dealing with bad attitudes and/or poor performance.

I am now a father of 2 and my kids are the greatest gifts in my life. I don't need to yell at them to get them to do what's right. They do what's right because they trust that I have their best interest at heart. I don't need to rage to get that.

I have to tell you all;

I know Bo/Carl are intense, but this really is part of football. It was for me....... > and don't think TO did not holler as well as all the coordinators.

Not as much, but we were a little more veteran then this group.

I understand the parental statements, but in the same token like I have said before, the man is genuine, caring and a real neat guy to know personally and he has the backs of the players and the players have his back. No apology was needed in the Husker camp.... at least from the players or staff that knows Bo and crew!

With that being said, I will cease talking about it and focus on CU.

HH, be careful on your trip.... Have a great time!

My pleasure. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and learn. If I could go back and take a different path I wouldn't. It is that path that led me to two awesome children.

Life is a journey where you learn things in stages. That there are good times and bad times is one of the most important. How you handle the bad times will be most remembered by those around you.

It's just the way it is..
