What I like so far about the season is that there hasn't been any rainouts.

And yet Boston might get snowed out today.

Yanks already got rained out. Starting out the season on the East Coast is done.

Almost a lock to get cold/rainy days in early April on the East Coast

Yeah, starting it in say Minnesota is obviously much better.

As I've said for football. Basically any team over the mason dixon should be required to have a retractable roof.

Yay!!

Home opener should be somewhat normal after we're supposed to get to 80 freaking degrees on Wednesday.

MLB could open the season in warm climates or domed stadiums for the first 2 weeks. There are enough domes and warm ballparks.
Enclosed stadiums in Toronto, Milwaukee, Seattle, Phoenix ... and warm ballparks in San Diego, LAA-LAD, Atlanta, Houston (also a dome), Tampa, Miami ... play the first 2 weeks in those places and come north toward the end of April. Plus, it isn't evil cold in SF and Oakland.

Yeah, it would give some teams an early advantage, but it evens out.
I don't advocate games in Mexico or Havana, however. It's the water, silly.

Opening Day in Phoenix, Dry 89F. Not sure if the roof will be open or closed for the game. Possible rain Thur and Friday though we just close the roof then if needed. Hosting the Rocky's the first 3 and then the Cubbies for the next 4.

this reminds me of a conversation i had with a now promiment cal berkley former player.

I played college baseball in new england and it was like in the low 30s, legit snowing during parts of the game.

We're chatting, and I told him it was freaking cold at our game that day.

He says "Yeah, it was pretty cold here too."

Me: "how bad?"

him: About 60

me: ....

Softball season in Dallas stretched into November and we usually played late at night, so it was common to play with the temps in the lower 60s with a light breeze.
Being from Chicago, I would wear my short sleeved jersey with baseball pants and tell everybody this was REAL ballplaying weather!!
The local would be wearing sweatshirts, heavy sweatpants, and knit hats, shivering all the while and cursing a blue streak at me for being a stupid Yankee!!!

Yeah, but you yanks don't know what hot is either. I remember my parents telling me a story about a trip the took to Boston, and the weather was gorgeous. It was probably high 70's or 80 degrees absolute tops and they were telling me how everyone was just bitching about how hot it was. Said there was one guy sitting on the steps of a building, his shirt absolutely drenched in sweat wiping his face talking about how hot it was. My parents were like wtf?
