Interesting comment from Allen regarding the cap space. He said we sit at about $2M, which isn't enough. We probably need to free up at least 2-3M more. Cap space moves will be made after the 3rd preseason game. He has basically 3 options: Cut a vet that is eating up significant space but not producing; get a vet to take a pay cut with out cutting them; renegotiate with a vet to sign them to a longer term deal for less money this year.

My bet is that Bowen is who he is targeting, either as a outright cut or a renegotiation/pay cut. I guess there is also an outside chance that they decide to sign Rak to a long term contract, but that would be highly unusual as most of those discussions die once training camp opens.

i dont know how you keep bowen at his price when it looks fairly certain he will be on the PUP for 6 weeks to start the season

Nothing can be done with Rak until next season at this point. the deadline to sign him long term was july 15. I wouldnt rule out Trent Williams deal to get redone

I didn't realize that. But they can negotiate with Trent now? How are they different?
