How far did Braylon Edwards fall? Deal with 49ers is 1yr, $1M, with no guarantees. Only reaches $3.5M max with 90 catches/Pro Bowl. Yikes

Niners definitely don't have 18 mil in room. They were at about 30 before they started signing guys.

Rogers was slightly over 4. Put down McDonald, Whitner, Godwin for 3.5ish each. (the niners might front-load those contracts if they think they won't use all their caproom this year, and that way they have more room in future years).

Akers might be a little over $1 mil while Williams, Wragge, Grant, the Cleveland special teams ace, and Applewhite are probably all just under the 1 million mark. Together, they count for at least $5-6 million.

I don't know how Edwards' deal counts against the cap since there's a bonus that we won't know about until the end of the season.

My guess is the niners have about 8 million left, although it could be a little more.

Does anyone know if the 51 rule still is in affect under the new CBA?

I imagine it is still there, doesn't it sort of give teams that extra space to go out there and sign free agents without going over the cap?

This is the rule where only the highest 51 contracts count towards the cap during the off-season, right?
