I would say we are about middle of the pack with Jax leading the charge at 32 million and Seattle covering the rear at 11k. We are in a decent position with our players. As long as we keep doing a nice job in FA and not over spending, signing a few of our important guys, and building through the draft and college FA for depth, we should be okay.

We are sitting with about 36 million in cap space right now.

I have nothing to add here..... The Bengals are actually doing a really nice job as an organization these days. I really don't know what to do with myself..... But since this is a post about the Bengals and the salary cap, I feel the need to post a picture of Mike and Katie.

I'd say you are looking at 12/14 million spent on Iloka and Jones together. Then they want Rey. Hopefully PacMan will be back. After rookies and all that I'd say we will have 10ish million to spend on FA. Most of which I'd wager we roll over.

I'd also like to see them extend Zeitler and Kirk and bring their cap hits down some. Could save us 3 to 4 mil each.

An extension for Zeitler would be smart. I don't want them to make a significant investment in Swag - I don't see the production. I also wouldn't be opposed to finding out if we can make an early deal with Gio Bernard..... I figure we could use an experienced running back in the future since Jeremy Hill retired after his first season.

I think you're about right with the 10 million carry over.

I don't think we need to make a big investment in swag, but if we can get him for say 4 years 20 mil total, I think he may accept that considering he hasn't played well and that lowers his 8 mil cap hit. I'd be ok with extending Gio too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals make a run at Lauranitis. Rams just released him and he seems like he fits the Bengals special.

With limited speed and a liability in pass coverage..... My god, he is a Bengal linebacker.

I don't think he is necessarily washed up, he has still been playing well the last couple years, but yes OSU players drafted highly that other teams cut due to cash concerns. Especially at the LB position.

How are the Browns and Jaguars getting away with this?

I thought they had to pay the money under the floor to their existing players?
maybe they're planning to splurge in some coming year?

Yeah..... I feel confused by this too. I remember that there were going to be a couple of years that you didn't need to be up to the cap, but I thought sooner or later you needed to get there. At least by 2016.

my guess is they appeal to the league for sympathy.

Someone has to give up 400+ yards a game to the leagues QBs so that they look legit. I've said it before, it's a show, and someone has to be the Washington Generals to the other clubs Harlem Globetrotters.

They are having trouble drafting players worth even decent extensions after their rookie contracts end. They have spent money on Hawkins and Julius Thomas recently.

And they're about to give Marvin Jones a top 10 wide receiver contract. Just watch.

Alshon Jeffrey has been tagged by the Bears. That means that Marvin Jones is undoubtedly the #1 FA wide receiver on the market. Say goodbye.

wow, that means we could lose both of them.

there's a certain QB that could have something to say about it, but he won't.
