Can we really say Victor Cruz will bounce back?

He is the one receiver I feel could be a risky pick. I mean for him to look as bad bad as he did last year can it really all be put on the O-line? Players with worse O-lines have been able to get their receivers the ball. Peyton played behind a bad O-line for years in Indianapolis, Rivers played behind one last year, etc. And that didnt affect Wayne and Allen. Or even Alexander in late 2012 when he was the no.1 WR. I just feel that Cruz may just not be that good or Eli was afraid to throw it to him.

I think you are over analyzing this. There are a lot of reasons that a players' production could slip and the Giants were a hot mess all the way around.

Cruz could very well bounce back, but to me he is slightly overrated in most default ranks.

I don't have the exact stats, but go look at the two years prior to the two Giants' SB wins. Very bad years, very. I expect a big bounce back for the whole team, from Eli to the back up TE.

As for Cruz specifically? I don't think 1000-6 is out of the question... but I won't reach for him.

I have him ranked 19th at WR, and upon further review, I would probably have Roddy White (21), Terrance Williams (22), and DeSean Jackson (24) ahead of him; that would group him with Reggie Wayne, Torrey Smith, maybe T.Y Hilton and Percy Harvin, and I'd take him ahead of all those options.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

The Giants' plans to run the ball tanked in game 1. They became one-dimensional. As bad and as predicatable as the G-men passing was, Cruz just fell short of 1K in only 14 games (better than Fitz). Was just a down year as far as I'm concerned.

I can't draft TWill because he did next to nothing after week 8. Maybe it was Austin coming back and screwing it up or he just did not look the same starting with the vikings. Minnesota must have had Rhodes on him because he was bad that game. But he just checked out after the lions game. Its possible I could end up drafting my first WR at R4 if I choose to draft Gronk or Thomas and Ball, Lacy(if I am picking at the top 2), or Foster. But now I don't know if that is smart. I am not drafting Alshon. I am not drafting Nelson or Cobb without having both. My reasons for Alshon is he is not Cutler's preferrable target and Cutler doesn't like to spread the ball around. It is going to be Marshall first with him. Then, its injury concern only with Nelson and Cobb. If it wasn't for me already owning Gordon and Allen, that would have screwed me last year when Cobb went down big time. Most likely Brown is the safest pic for receiver in that round but he could be a keeper so that leaves no receiver option for me in the third unless I reach on Fitzgerald. I am also maybe though playing the trade value game. a top TE could be a valuable assett due to the fact that there is value in later rounds and that could land me a big RB or WR during the season or before season starts. One guy in my league particularly loves Gronk and the other loves Thomas.

Giants had a horrible o-line

They improved the line and got better weapons to surround Cruz along with a new coordinator

Sounds like he's playing the Randall Cobb role in the ex Packers cooridinator's offense. The question isn't will he bounce back. .The question is well he stay healthy long enough to have a career year? Oh.. along with "Has Eli figured out what team he plays for?"

You can't draft the #2 WR on one of the best passing teams in the NFL? Honestly Brees, that's a bad way to go about things. He was a rookie last year!! A good game every week just wasn't gonna happen, and yes, Austin's return played a big part.

Your run-on paragraphs are starting to sound like my grade 12 Biology teacher. You started off your thought with TWill, and ended with picking a TE. I'm not trying to be a dick...it's just hard to read. You are very in depth with your thoughts and I like that! But, IMO, being that particular can be a bad thing...and you can miss out on talent.

Well for starters Romo's second target is Jason Witten. And while I only recently found this out, Linehan loves to feed the ball to the big receiver(Megatron/Bryant). My TE theory was tied into my WR topic because Cruz could end up being my no.1 receiver and all. If he's there in the 7th round I might take a flier on him but I am not going to take him any earlier than that.

Any coach worth his salt is able to take advantage of the talent he has around him. Just because Linehan could never really find a consistent #2 WR in Detroit does not mean that his offense is incapable of supporting one.

Witten is a very good football player, but he is a safety valve receiver, not a go to option. Williams and Bryant will both have their opportunities as long as Romo can remain upright.

from what i witnessed the last two years

if ( as Tlance stated Romo stays upright )

Dez Bryant may garner the most Wr FF points and T Williams could easily/will easily be one of the best complimentary WRs in the game...

as for the original question in this thread the Giants had a bad year....Cruz is a solid Wr who should be bouncing back and i expect to see the salsa in various defensive end zones

I agree, Cruz is solid...but you never know, Rueben Randle could turn out to be better.
