Not sure he's eligible. If I remember right the cutoff to stay in rookie status is 25 games in the previous year. Not sure if that's less than or no more than. Pearson played in exactly 25 games for the Kings during the 2013/2014 season plus the playoffs but I don't think playoff games count.

Pearson is still a rookie, if he had played in 1 more game last season he would not be. If he keeps up the current stats, he will be a shoe in for R O Y. 69 goals and 96 points would be a great year. I think there will be some ebb and flow. Nice to see the early praise.

I believe he's eligible. If he is, he's certainly on pace to claim the award. Still a long ways to go tho.

He is eligible, this is his "rookie" season officially.

To be eligible you can't be 26 by Sept 15 of the upcoming season (he isn't, he just turned 22 8/10/14) and cannot have played in more than 25 games the season before (he was at the limit, 25) or in more than 6 games combined the previous 2 seasons (he did not). Playoffs do not count, otherwise he would not be eligible since he played in 1 game in the 2012-13 playoffs and would void the 6 games in previous 2 seasons requirement.

He sure is looking like a potential winner although I'm sure he will tail off a bit as the season goes along. Certainly showing he can play in the NHL and his speed is such an asset to LA.

Funny thing about his speed. I was reading somewhere that he isn't all that fast. What Suter is doing is limiting his minutes so he can sprint more and keep up with Carter. It seems to be working.

Numbers would bear out what you are saying. Although both Pearson and Toffoli are averaging about 2 min more per game compared to last year, their ATOI is significantly less than other forwards on Kings and much lower than forwards around the league who are or would be producing like they are. There is always a genius to Sutter's handling of this team.

That would explain why it looks like Pearson is hustling so much all the time (which I like) ha!

I can settle for like half the amount of that in goals and that would be great.

He didn't even get a point last night, but was key on both goals.

He and Toffoli are both RFA's next season and Kopi is a UFA the following season. Do we really want Pearson to be R.O.Y ;)~

DL has his hands full.

The thing is, both Taffoli and Pearson have gotten a taste for success very early in their careers. They may take less in order to keep their line together. If they do not, well you know what they say about greener grass.
