I am a big fan of thoroughbred horses. Unfortunately, my travels made it unfeasable to keep up with them and online gambling and the lotteries have taken away some of the money from "the sport of kings"

One thing came to mind today when thinking about QB's and Cam specifically:
Od horses generally do not improve.
They can make money by being properly trained and properly placed.
They can drop in class as they get older since they lose value.
When you see someone betting on an older horse based on expected improvement, it is usually a sucker bet.
Cam was never very accurate. They played to his strengths and gave him receivers that would fight for a misplaced ball.
Misplaced balls are getting harder to cath with today's DB's.
There is lots of tape on Cam and he won't surprise anyone.
He is not as fast nor as tough as he once was.
His IQ has not changed unless concussions are an issue - he certainly is not getting smarter nor processing faster.
The Cam we see is who he is. He is not going to get better!
An easier schedule and a little luck could fool you.
Don't make the sucker bet!

Ya. I agree wiht the premise of this thread. He's likely not going to get better and he is clearly slower and worse than he used to be.

How old of a horse are we talking . Horses generally step forward greatly from 2-3 and again from 3-4. Not uncommon at all to bump from 4-5 as well. Most top end horses are retired before then though. Just this year there were some oldies sluggin out tops their division(although not common).

well if @Pure Steel commented, and @Southieinnc tagged me I gotta comment now too.

I agree with gelding him though.

At 6 they can still be good but they won't be improving.
I don't object to the gelding but @cheerupcharlie needs to go to the political forum. He'd be appreciated there.....

Totally off topic, you have any favorites that are currently racing? what about you @Pure Steel

None recently that compare to the horses of when I was younger.....Holy Bull, Skip Away, Easy Goer, Double Booked, House Buster, Bet Twice and Storm Cat that turned into a beast in the breeding shed....saw them all live....know the owner of American Pharoah real well, he likes to gamble a bit.....

ahh those guys were before my time.

Curlin is my all time favorite....from the maiden race till he got beat in the BCC the second time......still love that horse........

Pharoah was purely awesome........id imagine his owner lieks to gamble lol

Right now my absolute favorite is guarana......shes a monster, was not happy she got knicked up

Gamine is a freak, but shes got tagged twice for violations.

excited to see maxfield come back

Love by my standards

unfortunately a chunk retire at this team every year after the BC.

I wasnt a fan of his at all before but knicks go is fun to watch since the barn change

Nashville i cant wait to see run again, wow......
