UPDATE (Dec. 21, 3:05 p.m.) -- The 49ers filled the final spot on their 53-man roster with the promotion of rookie outside linebacker Cam Johnson from the practice squad. Johnson could be active for Sunday's game with outside linebacker Clark Haggans not expected to play due to a shoulder injury.

even if he doesn't get activated, or does but doesn't play, taking this as a good sign he's made SOME progress.

I think after the 4th quarter of the Pats game Harbaugh felt we needed another pass rusher. I think he will be active especially if Haggans and Cowboy Smith can't plat Sunday.

I'm sure he'll be active but mostly on special teams.

The team needed depth with Haggans down and if he does get in there it would likely be exclusively to rush the passer if Smith or Brooks need a spell.

The Pats are the only offense that would put our defense through that grueling pace so that's as exhausted you'll ever see our defense (or any defense for that matter) this season.

Without Justin Smith taking out two blockers, the rest of the pass rushers struggle. I think he has the most value of any player on our defense.
