I am kind of glad it was Cal. He is a comeback story from down and out to top HR hitting catcher. He is kind of the poster child for this team and how they were down and out and came back.

So many goddamn emotions and my kids are spoiled because of the Seahawks that they don’t get it. Now for the love of god please exercise the 95 demons.

2001....I had just gotten out of the Marine Corps and I was still a kid. After 4 years of not using much of brain at all, college was pretty hard not gonna lie, and I was working 40 hours a week, too. M's games were my therapy that year and I drove from Port Angeles to the Bainbridge Island ferry and walked to Safeco I don't know how many times that spring and summer.

Now I'm an old man, and boy is it nice to see this again. I didn't realize how superstitious I was until the last few months. Started watching the M's again in early July right after my mom's funeral but haven't talked to anybody about any of it because I didn't want to jinx it.

Long way to go. Watching Servais on the field talking to the crowd right now. Very cool.

Kinda crazy how Cal was dead in the water then one day randomly decided to be an elite catcher.

In 2001 I was in the Mariners clubhouse essentially trying out for a position…but then those goddamn terrorists hit the towers and it jacked all sorts of shit up. @NWinAZ buddy promoted me and Corey Brock’s brother up to the clubhouse staff for the MLB squad but it was too hectic with all the new rules that once they clinched against the A’s. So I got the AL West clincher as the bat boy but had to watch the 116th win in the stands. And it is 10 times better than that.
