Assuming he doesn't get injured, look to see Madrigal join the club at some point in late April to mid May. He's everything the Sox were hoping for when they drafted him, at least from the minor league level. Solid with the bat, altho he's primarily a singles/doubles hitter, great defense, good speed, rarely whiffs, which is almost unheard of these days. Can't wait to see him on the parent roster.

yep, just like what i saw at Oregon State…slap hitter to all sides and great w/ the glove.

GL2U and the WS this coming year…will watch.

Washington offered him 4 years as well. He would be the biggest free agent signing in the history of the club. I just don't see it happening.

Hey...It can happen...We threw our biggest contract ever this offseason...It is a .241 hitting pitch framing stud muffin that will win all our hearts like Jake Taylor. Hot dog my body is ready.

Here is Robert’s salary break down on the contract extension:

2020: $1.5 million
2021: $3.5 million
2022: $6 million
2023: $9.5 million
2024: $12.5 million
2025: $15 million

The two option years of '26 & 27 are each $20 million, with the Sox also holding a $2 million buyout on both options.

Not bad. Definitely team friendly. If he is as good as he is supposed to be, he’s certainly leaving some money in the table. Good for Hahn.

I don't think the Sox gave Robert this contract to have him playing in Charlotte on opening day, that's for sure. To me the bigger question and a super legit one at that is will there be a true Opening Day game? We're talking Chicago in late March here, often a nasty time of the year, especially for baseball.
