With regard to Burrow.... Smart move. At the beginning of Tiger Woods career he only spent money he won in golf tournaments. The endorsement deals all went to the bank. Not sure that was really a thing after his marriage issues, but you get the point.

One final point.... When Joe gets married he's going to start hocking every damn product on the market. LOL

Smart to bank his rookie contract. It may be his last if the Bengals ruin him

Poor narrative. Bengals had no issues with Palmer or Dalton.

They also didn't ruin Akili - he self admits that he did nothing once he got drafted. Flew to Vegas nearly every week on Friday night and would return Saturday night or Sunday very early morning before games.

Only QB you can really point to is Klingler - they drafted a QB that did not even come close to fitting the WC style the offense ran, and then the OL was never the same after that 88-89 season. Left him out there to be mangled. Other than that, the rest of the QB's have either fared well enough (Jeff Blake, Easiason's return, even Kitna), or were never very good (Scott Mitchell anyone?).

You apparently have never listened to a Palmer interview since he retired.

By issues, I meant they didn't "ruin" him, or the other QB's, physically. He was a fine QB, and was one of the best his first few years in the league. Did the team around him get away from Lewis and Co. Yes, it did. Did that "ruin" Palmer? no.

Whatever the bitterness is that he harbors towards the Bengals is not because they "ruined" him - it was a failure of expectation and agreements that were thought to be had between the owner, Lewis, and Palmer.

But, was he "ruined" - his healthy seasons show that he was still a very good QB with other teams. So, no - he was not ruined. He is very bitter, though, and probably for good reasons.

Palmer was derailed by a devastating injury. Kimo said he wasn't following orders and swears up and down he had no malicious intent. He had a good run with Cardinals afterwards, but there was a lot of anticipation that the Bengals could have gone much further in the playoffs that year.

he may have lead us to a superbowl that year, and things would have been a lot different.
instead, he came back slow and turned into the local scapegoat, people dumped poop and garbage on his lawn and he realized his family realized that Cincinnati was not the nicest place in the country to live. He became frustrated with the way things were run from the top (m.brown) on down. but... there are other crappy franchises in the NFL, you can't avoid them all until you build a good reputation.

This is actually the first thing I thought of when I read the threadline... Saving these contract dollars is brilliant if he's already married or stays single. If he gets married with all that money in the bank, he better get a rock solid prenup that thoroughly safeguards his stash. Otherwise, all this money ain't going to his future, it's going to his ex-wife's luxurious living.
