I'm still at work, so I haven't been able to piece together all of the details about this, but...did this deal get done before or after all of the moves??

...and if so....by a wide margain of time??

I'm estatic as fuck, but the price tag seems a bit steep and/or rushed.

SInner, I think they kept reporting that Ilya was given two offers to choose from last week, and had until the cap space was there to make a decision.

wonder what this means for bobrovsky? can't see him being a 1.75 million dollar backup until hes 31...
i love the kid and really liked the potential he had as well as his work ethic, but it looks like he's more or less gone

We'll see when his contract is up but for now, let him develop and learn from Bryz. Nothing wrong with having two good goalies.

Unfortunately I can see the 1-2 tandem being in full swing again next season!

Glad to have him...dont be surprised to see bob traded at the draft...maybe even the number 8 and bob to move up if they like someone who needs goaltending to...just a thought...

Because Bryzgalov is only 31, I thnk we get get out of the last few years without the whole cap hit. I know this cant be done with Pronger and Lappy because they were both over 35 when signed. Bryzgalov is Russian and will be Bobs mentor until Bob is ready. i figure about 5 years.

The Bryz contract was about as good as we could expect Homer kept it under 6 mil/yr and with the declining salary later on he will be very tradeable. So if Bob shows promise let the best man win and trade the other but for now we'll have the best back up in hockey...I love that!!!!!!!!

I don't mind the contract given to Bryz at all. It makes him the 8th highest paid goalie in the Nhl, but that's pretty much what we expect out of him, to be one of the top eight or ten goalies in the Nhl. Regardless, that should be extra incentive for him to prove to us that he's worth every penny and he can definitely act as a mentor to Bob.
