Can't root against Colorado as strongly as I do other teams. I spent some pleasant times in that state a long time ago.
But they are tonight's opponent anyway. espn.go.com says Patrick Roy won't play tonight, FYI.

GO BRUINS!

Series notes

Last meeting: 10/10/11 @ Boston, Avalanche won 1-0

Doob's view:
Avs are looking good this season, blew out the Anaheim Ducks, beat the Nashville Predators, & handed the Toronto Maple Leafs their first loss off the season. Semyon Varlamov has been outstanding in net so far, and the majority of their scoring is coming from the 3rd line of McGinn - MacKinnon - Parenteau. That being said, tonight's matchup against the Bruins will likely be their toughest matchup of the season so far. Bruins have been getting great goaltending from Tuukka Rask and a great overall team effort in both of their games so far, particularly from Torey Krug & Milan Lucic. I think it will be a good game, but I look for the Bruins' talent, depth, & experience to prevail.

Doob picks the Bruins to win this one by a score of 3-1.

Update, looks like Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be starting in net tonight for the Avs.

I'll take my chances with Rask against any opposition goalie.

If the Bruins win the takeaway-giveaway battle, which they haven't done as much as I'd like for a long time now,
a multi-goal win is more likely than a loss, IMO.

Concentrate on HOCKEY, not on fights, Bruins!

Fights are NOT hockey however much some people like them!

GO BRUINS! :yahoo:

So far we're losing the giveaway-takeaway battle, but it's only one period.

We've been on the PP more than the PK so far, which is good.

PULL THIS ONE OUT, BRUINS!

This game is really fun to watch, but it depresses me to see how much better these two teams are playing than the Flyers. The young guns from Colorado are quick, creative, make smart decisions, and just have a great uptempo pace. Boston looks tough and solid, but with a higher gear they can kick into to push the play when needed. It's crazy and terrifying and the Avalanche will probably beat Philly by ten when they play us. The Bruins will only beat us by seven, but it'll hurt a hell of a lot more.

It pains me to say this but Chara looks like he's finally losing a step. Lucky that the Bruins have Hamilton on the rise.

True enough.

The guy is just such a conditioning freak who has been so good for the last 8 or so years that it might be painful to watch. I say this as a big fan of the guy.

Missing the game. Why is it the Bruins pretty much play on every Thursday and Saturday? Sucks balls.

Only the 3d game of the season.

Not the result I wanted, but I'll live.

See you next game.

I think those AV's are looking better than people expected.
