Game Thread: Broncos at Jets

Sorry the late thread, but just got home yesterday and had things to do.

This is a game that the Broncos should win, even with the early start.

Here is the break down of how each team rates going into the game:
Denver Broncos:
Offense: 13th with 383.3 yards per game.
Rush: 3rd with 148.3 yards per game.
Pass: 19th with 235.0 yards per game.
Scoring: 25th with 21.0 points per game.

Defense: 17th with 366.8 yards per game.
Rush: 8th with 93.8 yards per game.
Pass: 20th with 273.0 yards per game.
Scoring: 17th with 24.3 points per game.

Turnover differential: 26th with -3.

New York Jets:
Offense: 29th with 289.3 yards per game.
Rush: Tied for 25th with 88.0 yards per game.
Pass: 27th with 201.3 yards per game.
Scoring: 21st with 22.3 points per game.

Defense: 13th with 355.5 yards per game.
Rush: 16th with 108.3 yards per game.
Pass: 14th with 247.3 yards per game.
Scoring: 13th with 22.3 points per game.

Turnover differential: Tied for 7th with +2.

A lot of their rankings are skewed by the Lions game where the Lions thought it was another preseason game. The jets do have a pretty good D, but I think our Offense should be able to have success. This might be the game where the D get's some swagger back. They need something as it has been a bit of a rough start to the season. If they rush the Darnold the way they rushed Mahomes they will have a lot more success as he is not as athletic to cause the same kind of problems.

Vance has come out and said that they will get Freeman more touches .. I haven't seen much in the way of updates on Veldheer, so hopefully he's good to go - I don;t know the stats, but from memory it seems as if the right side has been good to Freeman ..

A loss Sunday and it's probably a hole we won;t get out of ... This team is right at the crossroads

They are the much better team and need to win on Sunday. Freeman was a beast on Sunday. His TD run was very impressive as was the 8.4 per carry average. I think we are relying on Lindsay too much. I would like to see Lindsay and Freeman on the field together. There was a point where I knew it was going to be a quick pass or a run when Lindsay was in the game. If I picked up on it the Chiefs had to of too.

I am starting to think this team can run the ball on anyone. They are really good at it. The biggest problem is still being able to pass the ball. Not sure if Keenum is not progressing through his reads fast enough or exactly what it is at times, but it is definitely not in high gear. With the struggles the D has had at times I think running the ball is becoming more and more key all the time. Give them time to rest and keep the other team on the sidelines.

After 4 games the Ravens and Seahawks are both in the Top 7 in terms of total D .. The Ravens are number two, and we were in their house up 20-17 when that call changed the entire game .. We've played some good defenses so far

The Broncos came out inspired in that one, and I hope we see the same in terms of fire this Sunday

Well, I'll make sure and fire them up from my seats in the endzone. I'll be the one wearing the orange Broncos hat, screaming my lungs off, while dodging beers being thrown at me by obnoxious and angry Jets fans.

Been busy at work this week so not sure if this has been posted but we signed TE Temmarick Hemmingway to the PS.

Hemmingway spent the last few seasons with the Rams. A player i interviewed on my draft site.

Raw ability but great tools as a pass catcher. Sorta different from the other TE's we have on our active roster behing Heuerman. Be interesting to see if he can make his way to our active roster.

The worst thing the Broncos can do is let the Jets stay in the game. I would love to see Kelly in the 4th quarter for mop up duty.

I saw the signing some where. Seems like an insurance policy for if we lose Heuerman. He has not been the picture of health in his NFL career.

This is a big one for sure. Need to generate a couple turnovers somehow. Maybe special teams will provide a spark again.

The Jets defense is 16th against the run, but opponents have run on the Jets 113 times, 5th highest in the league. Yards per attempt against the Jets? A measly 3.8, good enough for 7th in the league.

But I agree the Broncos May be a team that can run on anyone and I really want to see them embrace the smash mouth identity that’s right in front of their faces. They have two very good backs and a FB who is a viable threat to catch the ball and is fearless in attacking the gaps and making holes when blocking for Freeman and Lindsay.

If they embrace that style of offense the passing yards will likely become more efficient. Keenum averaging in the 230s will be ok if he’s not throwing picks and the passing yards he does get are back breakers and knock out blows.

You couple that with this defense, a unit that showed it still can be top flight of employed the right way, and this team is just getting started.

Hasn't Denver let almost every team stay in the game last 10 years ? Would be nice if they put their foot on a opponents throat once in awhile.
