Just wanted to see what people opinions are about this trade. I for some reason wasnt a huge Brindamour fan when he was traded. The Flyers received someone to fill the void of a captain figure. The two put up relatively the same numbers once traded except Primeau's monster year in 00-01. But Rod ended up with a cup while Primeau's concussion issues forced him into retirement.

If there was a poll I think my vote would go to Primeau. Like I said I some reason always had a bias towards Brindamour growing up. Without the concussion I think Primeau gets more votes.

Primeau, I guess. But let's not forget, if you subtract out his big 2004 playoff run, he only had 9 goals and 41 points in 110 playoff games. To put it into perspective, Leino had 21 points in 19 playoff games last year.

I think most people remember that last playoff performance and the 5OT winner against the Pens and it skews their memory somewhat.

I liked Brind'Amour as a player but I thought that Primeau was a more formidable #2 center behind Lindros. I remember at the time thinking that teams couldn't just focus everything on shutting down 88's line -- now they had another big elite center to contend with.

I also remember thinking that Brind'Amour could never shoot anywhere except dead into the goalie's chest. Guy scored 450 goals, so what do I know?

Damn, that is a tough one. If I were in Clarke's decision I probably would have done the same thing. Primeau was absolutely awesome for us. He was a major factor in the team going so far during the 2004 season. No one could have predicted the concussion problems that forced him into early retirement. The Flyers just seem to have bad luck with that (Lindros, Primeau, Gagne, Lappy, etc.) Both teams got great players but it's hard to make a fair comparison since Primeau suffered from concussion problems.

There aren't a whole lot of things I wouldn't do for Primeau if he asked me to. 2004 playoffs were the greatest 2 months of my life.

Primeau > Giroux > God (redundant with #2, I know) > life itself > Brind'Amour.

I honestly believe both players became better after the trade so I'd have to go for Keith due to that reason...otherwise its one of the most even trades I've ever witnessed.

Has to be Primeau ... and the following quote says it all.

During the 04 playoffs when you and the Flyers took the Lightning to seven games, you were the most dominating player I ever saw. More than Orr, Howe, Gretzky, or anyone. -- Phil Esposito on Keith Primeau

I was at that game and the audio form that clip does not due justice to just how loud it was in there. I don't think I could hear for several hours after that goal.

Celebrating is for pussies.

That celebration is my desktop background. Every time I boot up my computer, I can bask in His glory while gaining sustenance from the tears of Andrerchuk, Khabibulin, and whoever the hell #22 is.
