Shane Doan had a bowel movement and Eklund broke the rumor incorrectly saying he went number 1.

side note: something needs to happen...this is ridiculous. No idea what the hold up is.

Why does something need to happen?

It will happen.... Somebody will say he picked the wrong team. Another will say it was a good choice. Somebody will say they paid too much. Another will say it's a bargain. Somebody will make a "Doaner Boner" joke....and then we all get killed by a bunch of Semin jokes.

The Colorado Avalanche website is already welcoming him to their team.

I believe he is trying to play in a city as far away from Tom Wopat as possible.

he made the hold up very clear. he wants to wait to see if the coyotes ownership situation will clear up in a next couple weeks. he's a good hockey player. not very bright apparently but a good hockey player. :D

1.They're not as good as their agents are making them out to be.
2.Most are past their prime
3.They are unwilling to take a 1 year deal
4.They don't want to play for a certain team

same shit every year. Most teams go after the high profile free agents and then have nothing left,to go after the role players that would have probably been a better fit.

maybe the over 35 guys as well are hoping for the clause that states if signed to a multi year deal that if they retire during that it won't count against the cap. its a last chance to get some good cash before retiring I dunno really. lots of guys out there. but lots of plugs as well

That would also make it easier for them to find work. If there's less of a risk against the cap, then maybe Hasek will find a job.

From NHL.com

Could Mike Modano be thinking about an NHL comeback?

The 42-year-old center, who retired following the 2010-11 season, didn't completely dismiss the notion when playing again was brought up during a press conference Monday to announce his induction this past week into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Modano said he had started working out Monday not with a comeback in mind, but with the thought of "what the heck."

"I don't know," he said. "You look at things and you wonder, 'What's the worst thing that could happen?' I mean, I get in better shape. I don't know what's going to happen with the CBA and everything, but I mean, one more year? That kind of intrigues me."

First Hasek,now Modano?

Bidding starts at 3 mil per season?
Goes to show you how weak the free agent class is,when 40+ year old guys will actually get a few bites of interest from some desperate gm's.

Put Modano, Jagr, and Whitney on the same line in Dallas, that's almost 125 years of hockey experience...

Caps need to sign Brett Hull and allow Oates to be a player/coach.

They no longer employ the old guys. Sorry, but you'd have to become a ahem, a (fuck) Dallas Star!

I guess you can sort of respect Doan for his extreme loyalty to PHX, even if I'm an extremely impatient person. I always have a soft spot for the guys who try to stick with one team throughout their career.
