Is everyone else as disappointed with Brandon Carr as I am? This guy isn't worth Scandrick's contract, let alone 50 million. I'm absolutely sick of him not turning his head to play the ball when its in the air. He seems to be good for one PI a week for not turning his head. Carr almost never looks for the ball. I understand that this is not the ideal scheme for Carr. But outside of a three game stretch earlier this year, Carr has been average at best. Below average in my opinion. I'm pretty sure we could have the worst defense in franchise history without him.

Yeah he has been a waste of 50 million IMO, and this defense is the worst in NFL history.

This was definitely a signing that left me rubbing my temples. I just didnt think he was worth that much based upon his output. There were cheaper options out there. But now he is going to get paid the next few years(since I think he made 800,000 the first year).

Classic Jerry Jones, he always over pays for mediocre talent. The Romo 100 million will haunt the Cowboys for years to come as well.

Over paid yes, but even Deion wouldn't be that great with the front 7 of Dallas.
Think about it. We have Hatcher, an injured Ware, and Selvie up front. Selvie has played well but is he really anymore than a backup? LB is atrocious except for Lee when he's out there. The safeties aren't all that special either. You can hide a bad player or two but you can't hide 8 of them. This many bad players will make the better players look bad too. I can't make s fair individual judgment because the whole defense SUCKS.

Maybe, but Carr gets burned when he is in man coverage on a regular basis. He will make a play every once in a while, but not enough to warrant a 50 million contract.

Manster, I agree that the defense's overall suckiness is the result of the collective lack of talent. But Carr has been notably bad for a guy who is supposed to be our #1 cb.

And what about the pass intereference penalties? I don't have the actual numbers, but it seems to me Carr gets whistled more than Scandrick, and Scandrick plays way more aggressive than Carr.

That's why I think we need to go corner a lot earlier in this draft then most. DL is the obvious way we need to go this year in the 1st. I think 90% of our draft needs to be defense though. Maybe draft OL or QB. Other than that all D.

With the contract Jerry gave Romo, I doubt they draft a QB anytime in the near future. IMO defensive line and safety are the biggest need. I think our O-line is improving, Romo had a ton of time to throw last night most of the time, and the run blocking has been damn good.

You right, but sometimes you have to just admit when your wrong. Romo needs to be shown the door. I wish the NFL was like MLB and the NBA....when you trade a player you could dump salary so that both teams can get what they what or you can trade a guy and still pay him a portion of the salary but still get some cap relief.

You and me both, they are several players who need to be shown the door. The salary cap just won't let that happen. The only thing the Cowboys can do is draft right, the only problem with that is, Jerry is doing the drafting. When will he draft for need instead of just taking what he thinks is the best player on the board regardless of need. I am so sick of Jerry Jones.

Which is exactly why it shouldn't be discussed as a possibilty...
I'm not sure I'd say we draft right. I'll say hte drafts have been better.

We know its not a possibility jarntt, but we can dream can't we? I don't agree the drafts have been better, yes we hit on a center, but the rest are players who have a history of injury and were even in college. Maybe its just me, but I don't see where the drafts have been better.

I see Lee, Dez, T Smith and Murray as building blocks. Frederick has been good so far and I'm not writing off Claiborne yet. Remember, better doesn't necessarily mean great. It only means better than what it was.

I like what Frederick has brought to the table, and Dez has been above average. Lee, Murray, and Claiborne just can't seem to stay on the field. That's what I meant by drafting players who are often injured. Sure they are, or can be studs while on the field, but what good are they on the bench hurt. Murray is finally coming around, he hasn't been as injured this season as he was last year, but the seasons not over yet. I just remember the days when we drafted for need, and need wasn't these high maintenance players who need a baby sitter like Dez, or a Dr. to carry around in their hip pocket like Lee and Claiborne. Maybe they will prove me wrong next season, but I wouldn't count on it.

Jarntt - I don't see Lee as a building block. I love his play and when on the field, he is a great player when healthy. But he is NEVER healthy. Going back to college this is true. Building blocks are guys you can rely on. We can not rely on Lee or, haven't been able to up to this point.

Like BigDeal said, maybe he can prove us wrong next season. But I, for one, will not be counting on it.

I can't argue his health problems, but IMO he is the best player on the Dallas Cowboys.

I don't think you write Lee, Murray off at this point. They are stars. Dez and Smith are our other stars. We have players worth keeping like Fred, Bailey, Leary, Church, Harris, Beasly, Williams, and hopefully Claiborne.

I wish Romo didn't get that 100mil contract, and we actually drafted his replacement, didn't even have to be in that draft.

I'm not sure he's the best player on the Cowboys, defense maybe but not team. I think Dez is the most talented followed by Murray. I wasn't so high on Murray until recently, he is now 10th in the league in rushing, and is averaging 5.5 yards per carry which leads the league among running backs with at least a 100 carries. Lee is probably the best defensive player we have, but if he can't stay on the field he is useless.
