Fun article about Belt in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat today.

http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20140408/sports/140409570

"If the Giants were a movie, he was a supporting actor, the hero's sidekick. We're talking a beach blanket movie here. The Belt character would carry the Posey character's towel and boogie board and the Posey character would ace him out for the beautiful beach girl and the Belt character was reduced to cheering for the hero even though the Belt character secretly loved the hero's girlfriend but she hardly ever acknowledged him.

"This season, Belt is fast becoming one of the stars. A leading man type."

Well, with that 'style' of writing, I can sure see why Lowell Cohn is writing for the press democrat.

The story was a real hoot to read - I laughed three or four times.

On Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, John Kruk was making the point for half an inning about Belt's grip change, and the resulting jump in his numbers since Aug 2 of last year. He had a bat in the booth and was demonstrating the difference and the effect. Not rocket science, but Kruk was really into it and it was interesting.

I missed this segment.

What happened when they informed him that BB plays for the Giants?

Kruk immediately predicted that he'd regress and be out of the league in a year.

I was afraid that Belt was going to end up hitting like the perfect 2nd baseman with good on base percentage but limited Power. We won't know until we get to about 3/4 of the season for us to be confident his Power is real and not a statistical variation, but I am now pretty sure he will be the hitter we hoped he would be with the grip change apparently being what he needed to get him over the hump. .

because being Keith Hernandez is a bad thing?

Belt had an ISO of .193 last year, which is pretty good. And keep in mind AT&T's a very tough park to hit in.

Don't know, but upon realizing he had done a fairly respectable job with that analysis, he promptly retired from announcing.

Kruk's kind of a joke as an announcer (he's not that bad but whatever) but that dude could hit. And it was pure technique of hitting, Tony Gwynn style, not athleticism (obviously).

Yeah, not a lot of "leg hits" out of Krukkie.

Not sure what the point of this gif is. The two swings are not that similar...

Well, if he hits 68 or so more this season, the similarities will become apparent.

What is Belt's hat size?

Its 4k, to match how many times he struck out today.

I Don't know if Belt's tired or just over exposed, but Belt looks lost right now and is slumping hard since the first couple of weeks.

We need to be patient with the kid. Still young, and clearly rushed too fast to the bigs.

Plus, he made contact tonight!!
