AJ Green only had 5 straight 1000 yard seasons to start his career until he got hurt for 6 to 8 games in 2016 and only had 964 yards, and then another 1000 yard season again in 2017.

Yeah, I definitely don't think this is that crazy a stat in the 2010's. It's like putting up huge offensive stats in the 1990's of baseball.

Based on the contract specifics I think the Rams overpaid for Cooks. I look at the franchise and transition tag numbers to determine value and IMO Brandon Cooks is not a top 5 receiver and getting paid more than the franchise tag is just high to me. However considering the Transition tag is $13.9 mil which is I am sure most already know is the average of the top 10 salaries the question is where do you rank him. He got a $20 mil guarantee and a salary of $8.459 mil for each season. I checked sportrac and it shows that his cap hit for this upcoming season is his salary which is the last year of his rookie deal. So I am curious as to where the $20.5 guarantee is going to come into play from a cap hit perspective. The extension does not start until the 2019 season (according to bleacher report). My guess is that we have not seen the true breakdown of this contract yet.

Presumably the 5th year option money gets deferred to 2019 and beyond if he is correct.

I don't understand why they let Sammy Watkins walk to then trade for Cooks (losing a 1st rounder) and then lock up Cooks with the same contract with more years.

The Saints and Patriots passed on this guy. Thats not a good sign.

That is because that is his job his primary focus is to stretch the field. However the two immediately behind him are so much better than him it is not even funny. Brandin Cooks is a good receiver of that I have no doubt but he is not even remotely in the class of Antonio Brown and Julio Jones.
