Brad Richards?

Darren Dreger said the Stars financial difficulties could mean Richards could be on the trade block & the Rangers a possible destination.

My question is why would the Stars trade their best player when they have a legit shot at the playoffs. If money is a problem, I tend to believe a quality team on the ice would mean more tickets sold & money in the owners pockets. But I guess that doesn't make sense does it?

Well I was thinking Moulson, Frans Neilson & Jesse Joensuu but I'd want Richards to sign an extension which means two things would have to happen:

1.Wang would have to spend some money.
2.Richards would have to agree to play for the Islanders.

We all know there isn't any chance in hell either of those two things happen.

I thought it was Raymond, Schneider and a first rounder

Kesler was not in that one. but I dont have links to the old rumour to be 100%

just did a prelim search and Feaster wanted Kesler, Edler and a first for richards (alledgedly)

I would have made that deal. Richards as a second line center would be UNREAL. He's one of the most underrated players in the league. If Dallas trades him their playoff hopes go with him.

Don't get me wrong I think Kesler & Edler are really good players. But Richards centering the Canucks second line would be a HUGE UPGRADE. Richards makes everyone around him better.

dominated the WJHC, won CHL player of the year (over a damned impressive Tavares), and then spent the next two seasons rehabbing his back.
ask again in a couple of years. Hopefully we'll have an answer with some NHL pedigree.

he would have definitely needed to do that because he would have been playing with plugs with that 7.8 mill cap hit

I still think Hodgson will be a player ... and i think we'll see him sooner rather than later up if he keeps playing the way he's playing in winnipeg

sure I'd want him. but not at that price (the trade that was apparently proposed, and salary is pretty damned steep for a 2nd centre)

Its hard to go back now and in hindsight say what would or would not have been done ... but if your #2 centre is making 7.8 ... what is your number #1 centre supposed to make?

and Im not saying Richards wouldnt have supplanted Sedin as a #1 centre but it would have been awful tough for Richards playing with scrubs (no matter how much better he makes guys around him)
