Had a similar discussion with some fellow Lakers fans when Love was an FA and re-signed with the Cavs.

I was hoping the Lakers would get him and some of them didn't want him based on his drop in numbers.

My point with him was that he, like Bosh in Miami, he didn't forget how to play basketball or start a sudden, unexpected decline. He made a conscious decision to sacrifice numbers for a shot at a ring.

You could say that Love and Bos, in their own way, were as responsible for the success of their teams as either of the other big 2. Them being willing to sacrifice is a big part of why it worked.
Because we know he plays well with Lebron, I thought if he were a FA he would be an option in LA, as well, if they struck out on their first target.

Not sure he'd want to play with Lebron again (isn't to say he wouldn't).

I would take Bosh. Really like both players and what they bring to the court. I am not picking Bosh bc Love seems to be injured more often, I just like him as an overall player. I do like things about Love more though, his passing ability and spreading the floor. I would still take Bosh though, not by a whole lot.

Nobody was going to offer him 4

Yes they were, you are fooling yourself if at least some teams didn't want a stretch 4 who can rebound. This isn't Cousins we are talking about, he would have gotten max at 4 years. No doubt about it

Maybe compare their best seasons before Lebron joined them?

In a lot of ways, they were essentially the same player before and during playing with Lebron.

Both played about 7 seasons before joining Lebron and both were 25 when they joined him.

In the season prior to Lebron:

Bosh averaged 24 points on 52% shooting (36% from 3), 10.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Love averaged 26 points on 45% shooting (38% from 3), 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists.

After joining Lebron:

Bosh averaged 17 points (50%/35%), 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

Love averaged 17 points(43%/38%), 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

Same. Would prefer Bosh, wouldn't be disappointed with either.

How did Bosh avg. 35% from 3 with Lebron while having seasons of 24, 29, 28 and 34 percent? Probably also should be pointed out Love took 500 3s his last season before Lebron, making 38%. Bosh took only 22 (making 36%). Most Bosh ever took was 49 and he hit just under 25%.

That said, agree for the most part stats are similar enough.

Love is better.

He is hte best outlet passer in the NBA since Wes Unseld

Much better rebounder than Bosh- not even close

Much much better 3 pt shooter htan Bosh- not even close

the rest of it is pretty even.

7 rebounds a game with that athleticism and that height tells Bosh's story- SOFT.

At the height of their games Love was indisputably a more highly regarded player- that is something no one can question

WTF are you talking about?
I guess the 11 consecutive all star games is a fluke?

Love, to most, is thought of as a player who had nice stats, while on shitty teams, and made no one around him better on those teams.

Also as a champion...a whopping one less times than Bosh (and of course one time they lost in the Finals he was out).

Think Bosh has 11 straight out West?

Im talking about both, on non Big 3 teams.

Consensus here is that they are close, then @WiggyRuss chimes in his usual bullshit like Love is far superior.
My comment was directed to him.

I think everyone can agree Love is a much better 3 point shooter and can spread the floor more than Bosh. Just overall for me I like Bosh more, it is pretty close though honestly.

Not with his medical history. A 2+1 at best.

If you think they are close, why come back with a dig at Love?

Agree to say Love is far superior would also be wrong IMO.

You comparing Loves skill set to Durant?

Not at all but it's a much worse injury than what Love ever had and Love was much younger. TBH, there is a good chance that Durant is a shell of himself when he comes back but teams are willing to take the risk.

Bosh:
18.7, 8.3, 1.9
18.0, 7.9, 1.8
16.6, 6.8, 1.7
16.2, 6.6, 1.1

= 17.4 pts, 7.4 rebounds, 1.6 apg

Love:
16.4, 9.7, 2.2
16.0, 9.9, 2.4
19.0, 11.1, 1.9
17.6, 9.3, 1.7

=17.2 pts, 10.0 boards, 2.1 assists

One area where Love excelled was floor spacing for a big man. In those 4 seasons with LeBron he hit 584 three's. Bosh- in his 4 years with LeBron hit 111 three's.

Love shot about 85% fro mthe free throw line. Bosh shot about 81% from the free throw line. Bosh averaged about 1 block per game--- Love about 0.5 blocks per game.

Love just excelled in that role around LeBron--- he was the better passer, rebounder and floor spacer. Dont know what much else you can ask for
