1986 - The first Blue Turf was installed at Boise State's football field

Early to mid 1980's - Boise State first used a dog to retrieve the kicking tee after every kickoff. The first dog was named KICKS. Kicks "retired" in 1998. Then after a 12 year respite the tradition was brought back in 2010 with a dog named ZEE. After a couple of years with Zee a third dog named Rox-Zee took over. And for the last four years the honor has been given to a dog named Kohl. Kohl also retrieves bats at local baseball games and can make free throw baskets during half-time at the Boise State basketball games.

The next "first" at Boise State appears to be Boise State re-creating their long absent Baseball team WITHOUT A FIELD TO PLAY ON. Two years ago the now departed school president Robert Kustra - in absolute ambush mode - scrapped the 2nd most successful athletic program at Boise State (the wrestling team) in order to bring Baseball back to Boise State virtually days after their (last) season was over. Then in 2018 the Boise State administration began using eminent domain to "take" properties located about 1 block away from Boise State in order to have room to build a new stadium for their baseball team - which is scheduled to begin play in 2020. One of the properties that Boise State appropriated for themselves via eminent domain was a parking lot for a church. NOW it is revealed that Boise State has officially scrapped plans to have a new on-campus stadium ready when baseball is resurrected in 2020. So apparently Boise State is attempting to field a new baseball team WITHOUT A FIELD TO PLAY ON. Talk about being inventive.
