I can tell you who I don't want, Joe Maddon or Ned Yost.

I think Melvin would be good. I'd also like Ron Washington.

I have a feeling they'll go young with Raul Ibanez or Gabe Kapler (assuming he's canned).

Why not Joe?

I could live with Melvin. Would he leave his current gig?

Melvin just signed a 2 year extension that keeps him with the As through 2021.

He will not be the Giants manager in 2020.

I'm kind of rooting for our internal candidates - Hensley Meulens and Ron Wotus. However, I doubt that either even make it to the finalist list.
I'm not so sure about Kapler. His methods didn't work with a talent laden team. Maybe a scrub team like the Giants would listen more and it would be more effective though.
I thought Ned Yost is retiring. I would guess his name is circulating just like Bochy's, because they are not tied with a team right now.
Ibanez is intriguing but how often do guys just into their first managing experience in professional ball work out at the big league level? I would guess more often than not, they don't.
How about Clint Hurdle? I'd be okay if the Giants look into him. Not sure who, though, would be the best fit. I'll leave that to the experts in the FO.

Bum, if we could trade him, wouldn't fit into their model. He's going to get paid more than they like for a player. He's the type they trade away.

You guys have so much more in Bum and his trade value than I do.

I'm impressed.

I'm 100% certain he is past his sell date.

Which saddens me no end.

Seeing as Bum is a FA, he officially has ZERO trade value...

Dave Roberts did pretty well.

Roco Baldelli.

Kevin Cash.

Alex Cora.

Aaron Boone.

Craig Counsell.

Hurdle had players publicly attacking each other, I'd stay away from him.

See, that is what knowledge can do for a young man . . . make him knowledgeable.

My point was that his new contract, that he will sign this offseason, is not one the A's take on. They ship out guys once they start to get expensive.

could turn out that the only ones who think bum is worth a lofty contract is bum and his agent

Raul Ibanez is refusing to interview for managerial jobs, so he appears to be out. Also, Joe Maddon is the strong favorite to take over the Angels' helm (which seemed pretty obvious from the point he became available when the Cubs decided not to bring him back).
