According to BamaOnLine, Alabama’s affiliate for 247 Sports, Petrino is a candidate for the offensive coordinator position at Alabama.
Nick Saban is no stranger to taking chances on individuals with questionable backgrounds. Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian each came on as offensive coordinators with significant baggage. Former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze was also in the running to join the Crimson Tide staff before the SEC blocked the move.

Former Maryland coach D.J. Durkin, who was fired following a toxic atmosphere within the Terrapin organization, has even been spending time with the Crimson Tide staff and players to help as a consultant for “professional development.”

Adding Petrino on board wouldn’t be a stretch for the Alabama head coach in the slightest. If Saban thinks he can milk out the former Louisville head coach for all the offensive firepower he has left in the tank, he’s going to give it a shot.
