Oh great, another immature poster that will bring nothing to the forum.

I will predict if this poster ever does make a bet, this poster welches.

I will guess we find out if cord cutting lowers the offer from ESPN. Since no other competition for ESPN, ESPN can name their price. ESPN has already bailed out the Big 12 once, I doubt they do it again. Not to mention, ESPN has lost over 10% of it's subscriber base since it bailed out the Big 12.

ESPN loses 2M subscribers in fiscal 2018

Overall, according to the financial magazine, ESPN has lost nearly 12 million subscribers since the end of 2013, dropping from approximately 98 million to 86 million.

SEC Championship game
TV Rating: 10.5

Big 12 Championship game
TV Rating: 6.8

B1g Championship game
TV Rating: 5.6 (30% less than last year because it was Northwestern)

PAC 12
TV Rating: 3.1

ACC Championship game
TV Rating: 2,5

Good points. It is hard to imagine ESPN having a willingness to fork over the same amount in the future if subscriber/viewership numbers are down. That along with not having any competition could drive things further down. Question is do others re-enter the bidding if the price drops enough to be profitably attractive?

I thought this was rather telling.

"On the cable news front, audiences continue to skew older. The median age of a CNN viewer was 61 in 2017, according to Nielsen data, making its average viewership the youngest of the big three cable news offerings. MSNBC's media age was 63 and Fox News Channel's was 66.

As a result, all three cable news networks are now devoting considerable resources and energy toward streaming offerings and digital subscription content."

Guess the question is how much "devoting considerable resources" means in regards to shifing from cable to streaming.

The beginning of the article is kinda funny. Gus always does the B10 CCG regardless of what network the B12 is on.

I imagine ESPN will get the rights, since CBS has SEC, and FOX has B10 every year, and FOX has PAC every even year. That way they will have the flexibility to rotate the 11AM and 7PM games between the B12/ACC depending on which game is a "bigger draw"
