Defensive Coordinator Jeff Casteel and DL Coach Bill Kirelawich are OUT! This is now the third coach on the defensive side (corners coach out earlier) that will not be returning to Arizona next year. I, for one, am shocked that RR has decided to move on from Jeff Casteel. I always thought they were a packaged deal. This is big news for us especially considering how bad our defense has been throughout the years. We've progressively gotten worse:

Total defense - Points allowed per game
2013: 62nd - 39th
2014: 103rd - 78th
2015: 114th - 107th

Is this the end of the 3-3-5 scheme? We'll have to wait and see but I'f we can get a solid Defensive coordinator in to go along with our offense, we could be a real threat down the road. BEAR DOWN

New coaches....new start! Really loving the recent hires of Coach Yates and Williams. They are respected as great west coast recruiters and we desperately need that boost. Cant wait to see how this all plays out. Kudos to RR and Greg Byrne.

Boise St fans seem pretty upset that Yates left. I don't follow Boise St very closely but apparently he was a very good coordinator for them. It's about time we do something about that defense.

The Boise State defense sure has looked good under him statistically. Of course, there's a grain of salt there, in that the competition was relatively weak.

That defense destroyed us in the Fiesta Bowl last year. I know a lot of people are being careful not to over-hype Boise St's defense because of the Mountain West but honestly, Boise St. was competitive against all conferences if you think about it. You never truly could count them out just because of the conference they play in.

I wouldn't say destroyed. We had 500 total yards in the game and put up 30 points. They did a good job, but it wasn't like Nebraska in the 2009 Holiday Bowl.

Hahaha, I went to the 2009 Holiday Bowl. That was a bad time for the empire.
