I hope they change them. Just the fact they came up with LEGENDS and LEADERS shows how difficult it was to come up with names that made any sense based upon how they made the two Divisions.

It's time to scrap the old plan and realign the Divisions to something that has some kind of sense while they've got the chance. ie.. before play ever begins

..NORTH...

Minnesota
Wisconsin
Northwestern
Michigan
Michigan St
Iowa

..SOUTH...

Nebraska
Illinois
Indiana
Purdue
Ohio St
Penn St

These are geographically TRUE and you can do your crossovers as necessary..

N/S is a lot of traveling for us..

E/W leaves us in a weaker division..

It's not all about "us". A N/S split would leave "a lot of traveling" for Penn St as well.

Nebraska's never played a Big 10 conference schedule. How do you know they won't be middle of the pack in that so called E/W "weaker division" once crossovers are included?

Nebraska should have been the Big XII North Division Champs every year but they weren't.

Good Lord...That's the problem with modern institutions of higher learning. They out-think themselves and end up looking like a bunch of dumbasses.

Keep It Fucking Simple Stupid.

Take it on the chin now Big 10. Admit your mistake and move on.

Re-align the Divisions while you still have the chance. Not one game has been played yet. It took them approx 3 months to come up with two Divisions that made reasonably naming said Divisions virtually impossible.

Start over from scratch with either the E/W or N/S mind-set and use crossovers to adjust.

The division would be historically weaker than the other.. not necessarily weaker football..

The way they have it split now is good, it leaves rivalries and creates more national interest with historic powers having potential to fight for the division title..

the name was the only thing they got wrong.

East and West and forget about geography.. it's close enough..

So not only can't 'institutions of higher learning' count, they don't know geography either?

so we should focus divisional fairness on one year of college football??

it wouldn't be a lack of geographical knowledge.. one division is positioned more eastward, and one more westward...

or the could do NW and SE with Nebraska, Iowa, Minn., wisconsin, mich and mich st, in the NW

SE being Ohio St, Penn St, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern?

Whatever blows your skirt up.

They need to keep it simple and stop making the conference look stupid.

ya, didn't really think that one all the way through..

still think the division split is fine..

under a strict east/west split, what would they do if they added more teams across the east line? keep moving divisions around?

To keep themselves from looking like a bunch of idiots YES. It took them a WHOLE 3 months last time. Big deal.
