It's interesting how the rivalries morph over time.

Steelers-Raiders was near the top for a long time, when they both near the top of the AFC
Colts-Patriots was great for awhile

In terms of "national' interest, here is what I think is at the top

Ravens-Steelers - is a tremendous rivalry and consider that Ravens are an "expansion" team
Giants-Cowboys is always of interest to me
49ers and Seahawks -is an emerging rivalry
Tampa and NO - might heat up.

NFC North rivalries have no interest to me. Bad football
AFC West, South, and East have no competitive rivalries

Some things never change, here's Ron "I'm Always Wrong (About Everything)" Borges talking out of the wrong hole, just like on the ESPN board.

National interest is always strong when it comes to the Cowboys, Packers, and Steelers (check out the top-viewed games in history). No one cares about Tampa or New Orleans or Seattle nationally.

Once upon a time Redskins-Cowboys was the biggest NFC East rivalry but of late I think it's the Boys-Giants. If you ask Giants fans who their least favorite team is 95% will say the Cowboys. It's that everything is bigger in Texas/America's Team vs. the New York/Northeast Swagger, success of late. And you get the sense that the 2 teams genuinely don't like one another.

that rivalry has certainly heated up over the last decade
Is that one way or two ways? Maybe if Adrian Peterson goes to the Packers 4 years from now, I could see the Vikings fans getting edgy.

Don't get your thong in a crack just because NFC North divisional games aren't appointment viewing.

Watching the Bears play any team is brutal and Cutler is insufferable
Lions were skunks last year
Packers had no defense
Vikings had no QB

While SF-Seattle, on the other hand, is appointment TV

Definitely not the longest, but maybe the fierce the last decade...Steelers Ravens matchups have decided the AFCN nearly every year.

All time...DAL vs WAS maybe it.

Growing up, Packers vs Vikings (Brett Favre)

Historically anything in the NFC East.

Living in California back in the days that the 49ers and raiders were both good, a raider / 49er game would be absolutely huge! Nowadays it would be really important in Milpitas.....

Spoken like a true WAZZU grad, can't even spell douche correctly when he's trying to insult a rival. Excellent work.

It is Ok IMHO, to misspell douche unless you are French or a chick - or maybe a Saints fan.

I have to be a bit of a home and say that the best rivalry in the NFL right now is the Seahawks and 49ers. They are two of the NFL's top 5 (Some may argue top 3) teams in the NFL who play in the same division.

Other than that one rivalry I always enjoyed was the Steelers and Ravens. I know people would bicker about every game they play being on national television but I always enjoy watching two great defenses going against each other.

Redskins and Cowboys rivalry is my favorite being from the DC area. It seems to be Armageddon warfare here every time they face off.

Others:
Packers and Bears
Falcons and Saints
Ravens and Steelers
Niners and Seahawks are shaping up to be a great one as well.

Agree with most of your opinion with a few exceptions. Boys lead Skins 62-40. Pats lead Colts 45-28. Too one sided to be true rivalries. Pack-Bears at 91-87or Pats-Jets at 53-51, all ways back and forth.

All time Best Rivalry is Bears-Packers and only reason Packers have been beating the Bears is because of Cutlers turnover ratio's in those games. I think SF-SEA will be the new biggest rivalry and beside the Bears-Packers since I am a Bears fan I love watching the Cowboys and Eagles battle it out.

I'm partial, but I have to say for all time ours (dallas) has to be the Skins. In the 90's, nothing beat the 49ers-Dallas rivalry, but over all of history the Skins.

If you can literally throw the records out and either team could win, then it is a good rivalry.
A good rivalry is one that over the years is close. The Cowboys-Redskins are not close, 62-40 in favor of Dallas. The Pack-Bears over 90 years stands at 91-87, Pats Jets at 53-51 show back and forth. The Cowboys -Skins is more for TV then a true even battle, not too say that they aren't great game but the history of these two teams is not close.

Giants Eagles - Since 2000 season one of these teams has won the NFC east 10 times, they finished 1-2 7 times. Eagles went to bunch of NFC championship games, Giants won 2 SB.

Makes for very intense in season division games

The fact they are separated by 90 miles adds to the intensity.

People would rather watch good football than the junk that goes on in the NFC north at the moment. Seattle San Fran (although Seattle fans claiming they are a top 5 team) is far more entertaining than anything the north can pull.
