First Round Matchups (Best of 7)

(1) WSH vs. (8) NYR <= these teams will come down to OV vs King Henrik. Didnt Caps beat the Rag$ a couple years ago coming back from a 3-1 deficit?

(1) VAN vs. (8) CHI <= whats to be said? 3rd time is the charm. they hate each other. seething, putrid, HATE

(2) PHI vs. (7) BUF <= always been GREAT matchups. Miller vs... Leighton... (kidding)

(2) SJ vs. (7) LA <= as Dash said. History is made again. California battles for round 2

(3) BOS vs. (6) MTL <= the most watched series of them all. 33rd time they meet in the playoffs.

(3) DET vs. (6) PHX <= is this Pho year? I doubt it. but back to back years is fun to watch

(4) PIT vs. (5) TB <= so much offence and grit in these. I feel bad for the goalies. will Stamkos show his playoff prowess?

(4) ANA vs. (5) NAS <= Battle of who can beat up who more. Smashville vs Orange Crush. going to be a sweet series.


everyone of these series if fucking epic. I am so intrigued by all of them.

first round winners in my humble opinion sure to be proven wrong:

washington in 6 (caps ditch the 1st round bugaboo)

buffalo in 7 (obvious angle, miller will shut philly down and out)

boston in 6 (another obvious angle, tim thomas is just more reliable than carey price)

tampa in 7 (toughest series to predict, but gritty pens with no star power can hang for 7, but not enough to win)

vancouver in 5 (blackhawks set up for a miracle run....except that vancouver is really good and won't choke against them this year)

san jose in 7 (no choke for the sharks in round one, even though i really like the kings, but no kopitar)

detroit in 6 (homer pick, but should be a super fun series)

nashville in 7 (admit it, we all want to see weber CRUSH getzlaf, nashville finally wins a playoff series)

yay, now lets see how wrong i am!

I second all these winners. I'd love tio be the ones to knock Philly out, but I think Buffalo is the hotter team going into the postseason, thats gonna be a fun one to watch. And I agree, these match-ups are just fucking awesome, I'm gonna watch every single game I can.
