So much more than just a hockey series. Lets just say no one accused Alan Eagleson of colluding with the Russians!

If we knew then what we know now of Alan Eagleson, I wish they would have left 'The Eagle' in Moscow.

There was that year that Saku missed most of the year due to cancer and came back right at the end of the year and led the Habs to victory over the over rated Bruins.

I'd probably have to go with the 1988 Norris Division semi Blues vs Blackhawks followed by the 2003 Western Conference Finals Mighty Ducks vs. Wild. The 96 Cup Finals Dives vs. Panthers was pretty good too.

/ooh, I forgot to add that Oil Change was a series and that was pretty good too

I think if JP Parise would have followed through, he might have ended up in the gulag...

In the interest of not being a huge homer, I will pick one the Red Wings lost. Their series against Calgary in 2005(?) I believe. Cagary went on to lose to the Lightning in the Cup finals.

God Calgary's goalie was good in that series.

That was 2004 and Kipper was indeed unbelievable in that series.

The Mighty Ducks, but the first one was much better than the sequels.

Personally I'd say the 2010 Caps-Pens series was one of my favorites if I'm taking off my fan hat. Game 7 was disappointing and not indicative of the series, but the dueling hat tricks by OV/Crosby were great and the series was a seesaw.

I remember really liking the Rangers-Canucks 1994 Stanley Cup finals series as a kid. The Canucks looked dead after game 4 and then made a comeback. Game 7 was epic. Great series. Messier winning with the Rangers for the first time in decades and decades was pretty great.

Honorable mentions - 2001 NJ v. Colorado in Finals (Bourque first Cup win), 2012 Bruins-Caps featuring 4 OT games, every game decided by 1 goal, and that sweet Joel Ward OT goal to win game 7)

No, no, no, no, no it wasn't - It ruined one of the greatest sports chants in history.

Homerish – 2002 second round, Leafs v Sens. No Sundin for the series after he busted his wrist in the first round vs. the Isles, Mogilny shows just how fucking awesome he was. Leafs go down 3-2 in the series, come back from a goal down twice in game 6 before Mogilny scores the game winner in the third and then scores 2 in game 7 as the Leafs make the Sens cry for the third time by winning 3-0 in Kanata. Fun fact: This was the last time to date that two Canadian teams met in the playoffs beyond the first round.

Non-Homerish – 2012 first round, Pens v Flyers. The whole series was like a goodbye tribute to the NHL we used to know. My mom was hospitalized that month, and I think it was on the evening of the second game we had the tv on in the room while a couple of my friends came to visit and we watched on that tiny ass box until the end of the second period. She was so out of it but then seeing what was happening was the first time in a week that I saw any excitement out of her (this is a woman who hates hockey, BTW). I haven’t really seen any hockey as batshit crazy as that series since and I’m not entirely sure we ever will again.

1993 Leafs against Kings was a great series. Gilmour is one of my favourite players of all-time. I also didn't hate that whole Leafs team. Plus Bob Cole was in his prime.

1996 or 1997 Wings-Avalanche were two great series as well.

Man. " Flyers-Pens. A series so rough, it will put your mom in the hospital!"
