Also dead to me.Also, Eagles music makes me wanna slit my wrists. Little more than a glorified lounge act
I might as well start a list.

If you’re talking with Gram Parsons, agreed. Not so much before.
I’d have the Flying Burrito Brothers in my top 10
What kind of Byrds?
Meh. Before GP, they were basically a Bob Dylan cover band and Bob Dylan’s music needed no improvementPre & post

Buncha people up in here tagging bands they were listening to the first time they got laid, when the mighty Eagles have ruled the airwaves for decades!Cool, I made another list!
I mean in spite of thatBut they were 4/5ths Canadian
I may be partial to Nirvana. Always thought Vedder and PJ had more of a folk sound. Don’t get me wrong I do like Pearl Jam and a lot of their music. But Nirvana was a different sound. And got the initial national exposure that opened the door for grunge. While also opening a much needed door for music in an age of hair bands/pop music. Cornell had the best vocals imo.I got nothing against some Nirvana love, but taking the subjective part or music out, Pearl Jam is a far better band. And it would be them and/or Soundgarden that the average person thinks of when they think of grunge if Cobain didn’t go out when and how he did.
The Eight Miles High, & the Turn Turn Turn variety.
I get it. Like I said, I love Nirvana and got nothing against being partial to them. Bleach still gets heavy play time in my personal rotation.I may be partial to Nirvana. Also could do without the eagles
Tbh I’m a bit envious you got to grow up in the heart of that Seattle music scene. Washington State produced so many iconic bands imo. A lot of my all time favorites too many to listI get it. Grateful Dead
I do respect everyone's opinion I just don't understand how anyone could list the dead as their favorite American band, off the top of my head I don't think they would be listed in my top 1,000.
Influential? Yes. Best? Not even as good as Foo Fighters. The Doors not really close imo. Tbh I would put Nirvana on this list
Those FN days were forgettable. You catch any Dead & Co shows the last few years?I didn't know you liked The Dead.
I remember a conversation we had on FN where I was talking about seeing Sting open for the Grateful Dead in '93, but I guess I didn't realize you were a fan. Or maybe I'd forgotten.
One could say Nirvana and Cobain played a major role to Grohls career. As one can say the Melvins heavily influenced Cobain. Nirvana was one of the bands that influenced the music we have today. Including the Foo Fighters.Influential? Yes. Best? Not even as good as Foo Fighters.
