Diggs has been very impressive and Lawson is coming back. This was pretty much a foregone conclusion. Bentley is expected to catch on somewhere assuming he healthy according to the report.

I get the sarcasm. I do Rob... You are realizing his replacements were a 4th and 6th round selection.
I have hated that the Lions have big issues developing late round kids. Wild Bill is not the only kid to not develop. However, in recent years, more and more late and UDFA are contributing. Not making huge strides. They are going the right direction finally on that issue though.

From his college scouting report:

WEAKNESSES
Bentley struggles in man coverage at his level, so it could be a huge issue for him in the NFL. He wasn't given many opportunities to play straight up at Lafayette, and he played a lot of zone coverage in which he didn't have to rely on his footwork to play on an island. He is basically non-existent in run support. At his size, he struggles to play physically and this could hurt his NFL development given that he will undoubtedly have to play special teams to stick early on.

Shit pick from day 1. Wow, a kid who struggles to be physical got hurt in the NFL. Crazy!

GENERAL MANAGER MARTIN MAYHEW

"Well, we drafted a corner (laughter). It seems like everybody looks a little happier now (laughter).

"We really like this guy. He's quick, he's fast; he really caught my eye at the Senior Bowl - very, very impressive Senior Bowl playing against the top competition. Then I went back and watched the Oklahoma State game when he played against Justin Blackmon and (QB) Brandon Weeden and he played an outstanding game against those guys.

"Our coaches have liked him, our scouts have liked him for a while. The guy is a very productive player; he's going to be a good player for us."

On whether he's concerned about Bentley's size and physicality: "He will throw his body around - all 182 pounds of it, he throws it around.

"He's from a smaller school. Sometimes those guys come to our situation and our weight program, our strength and conditioning coaches do an excellent job with those guys and we'll see what he weighs later, but he plays big. He makes big plays. I like the way he plays."

On whether Bentley was at the top of their board and it just worked out this way: "Indeed it did."

On how he feels about the state of the team's secondary in general right now: "You know what, we don't really have a state right now. Like I told you guys before, the draft is not the finish line. We have a lot of work to do on our football team; we've got some good young players in our secondary. I thought injuries really hurt us late last year. But we're still adding to our team and we've got some more rounds to go, we've got some free agency period left to go, so we'll just keep getting better. Every area of our team can improve."

The Senior Bowl seems to play an influential role in Mayhew's drafting.

This is nothing new. Matt Millen drafted S Gerald Alexander strictly based off tape of Boise's W over Oklahoma in that famous bowl game. "He played great vs. AP." I always remembered that comment. Mayhew learned from the worst!

pretty sure Bentley had an ongoing shoulder injury/issue while playing his last two years at ULL. Bentley was also a H.S. teammate of current Rams players CB Janoris Jenkins and some draft analysts thought Bentley would become the better of the two. didn't happen. He was a CB who had pennchent for a P.I. penalty waiting to happen on any given play, IMO.

I won't miss him 1 bit.

Weaknesses: Can be baited out of position when in zone and a tick late to diagnose underneath routes. Tall, high-cut prospect who displays some hip-stiffness. Not explosive when transitioning or when changing direction. Lacks great recovery skills when beaten off the line. Can struggle tacking in the open field at times.

I never liked him. A lot of those reports were what I saw as well. I do like the little I have seen and heard of Diggs though. I will reserve final judgement until I see the preseason games.

This Google thing is impressive.

I had a lot of experience googling yesterday.

just not football related.

I'm on IR now because of it.

Richard Sherman. Every player profiled has strengths and weaknesses. Its comical to use that as hindsight fodder. I thought Bentley showed some flashes. A shoulder injury that cost him 13 games and a torn ACL were more likely the reasons he was cut. And we are actually looking pretty solid at corner for the first time in a long time.
